Chili Posted January 24 Posted January 24 I can't find the actual post itself so I'm just uploading Not That Tom Green's (of WCW Deep Cuts fame) stream of it, but someone has unearthed the WCW POWERDISC. It was supposed to be issued with WCW magazine but for whatever reason wasn't. Anyway it's WCW in 1999 doing VIRTUAL REALITY WRESTLING MATCHES, or more to the point, it's Erik Watts facing Chad Fortune as Tekno Team 2000 explodes, wrestling in a VR arena surrounded by fire and rotating spikes, using 1999 graphics so it looks like something out of Quake. Val Venis wished he could’ve done smut like the Ravishing One. Best talker in DX by a mile and they silenced him. One of the things I really wish we got to see in wrestling history is a healthy Rude getting one last in-ring run in the late 90s. His ‘sleazy bastard but hard as nails’ character would’ve been perfect for the Attitude Era. And he would’ve made an ideal bad guy opponent for Austin during his title reign. Can’t help thinking he’d have ended up babyface at some point though. He was too cool to hate and in that era I think the crowds would’ve turned him eventually. Quote

Sunny as ever having great on-screen chemistry with basically everyone. What a shame her story wound up. Besides that awful suit (Ricky Rude always seemed to be a slightly off civvy dresser) Rude is AMAZING there. What a great volley of replies, the wink after giving his hotel room is sublime. He had an in-ring but with Vince in his lovely jacket and he even had the classic theme and does all his cut the music schtick too. Lovely stuff, shame they put him with DX and he left before would have eventually sparked them out. Quote

Always liked his affectation of sticking the mic on his chin, that was something nobody else did. Not an original idea but it would've been great if the Harts paid him to come over to their side as a route out of what ended up happening at Survivor Series. Quote

Merzbow Posted February 10 Posted February 10 (edited) Ignore the clickbaity name and image and this is actually a pretty great little video about the life and death of Buffalo Jim Barrier, the owner of the infamous New Vegas wrestling promotion NWC, you know the one... had the likes of Cactus Jack and Sabu doing hardcore matches while he somehow also booked The Ultimate Warrior. A young RVD getting booked to look like a star, oh and Jim Neidhart as a KKK member against Virgil... It barely touches the wrestling side but still, fascinating.
