I skim watched Haney and Garcia fights. Best part of the whole thing by far was the return of Jim Lampley, who sounded decent for 76 years of age but also without hesitation shat all over the Haney fight on air for how boring it was.

Jim Lampley back on commentary was the best thing about an extremely dull night of boxing, dreadfully so.

Always loved Lampley and his passion, his emotion on the final broadcast of HBO always gets me, he's a legend. 

And I found Pat McAfee with Booker T and Eddie Hearn and Jim Lampley on the pre-show a pretty decent watch, McAfee was actually alright and nowhere near as overbearing. 

But yeah, a fight night in that setting could have been great but it was such a flop.

A Boxing show in Times Square sounds like fun in theory, turned out to just be a fenced off private party for Turki and pals. And the fights were shite. This following a Eubank vs Benn fight which overdelivered in front of a red hot crowd last week is hilarious. Couldn’t be much more opposite.

Yeah billed it like it was gonna be a free for all, come and have a look and support boxing in NYC but just turned out to be an 'if your face dont fit you aint coming in' club.

Absolutely dreadful fights, and with the way it was hyped as well I don't think it could have gone much worse.

After the snoozefest of Friday and Saturday night's shows, Inoue and Cardenas saved the boxing weekend last night with a fantastic showing, what a fight. I won't spoil it for anybody in case you haven't watched it yet, but if anyone wants to be entertained, check it out, you won't regret it.

I agree ?? The Times Square card was absolutely awful, and Scull should genuinely be ashamed of himself. Hang them up if you get in big fights and just go in there to survive, no one is forcing you to be a fighter if you haven't got the desire to fight then don't. Canelo didn't look great either. On to Canelo-Crawford we go.

But yeah, thankfully Inoue saved it. 

Haney aswell, he's a skilled individual, trains hard, lives the life, but who wants to watch him prance out of harms way for 12, it's not educated boxing imo where there is a huge emphasis on defence but complimenting that with lovely timed offense, it's just s**t all round, and I appreciate proper boxing, a game of human chess, very much so, but Haney is just shocking, Haney and Scull need a long look at themselves.

That Times Square show was abit of a disaster.

Ryan Garcia looked like he couldn't be arsed. Horrible, uninspired performance. I aint sure if the knockdown changed everything but he didnt look like Ryan Garcia. Weirdly, Rolly Romero didn't seem that bothered that he'd just caused a massive upset. What was I watching?

Haney/Ramirez was worse. A shocking fight with little to no action. I think that Garcia fight ruined Haney.

Lopes/Barbosa was the best of the 3 but its one of the worst types of fights to watch. Little to no drama shifts, no highlights. Just 12 fairly drab rounds, Lopes didnt put a dent in Barbosa.

The event looked good, but this was weird.

I didnt even watch Canelo, i saw a tweet accidentally hinting at it being boring, so i didnt bother. What a difference a weekend makes.

Edit* just heard on Helwani's show that Haney/Ramirez, Canelo/Scull and Garcia/Romero are 1, 4 & 5 in the Compubox's all time "least punches thrown in 12 rounds" stat list. Unbelievable.

Was a dreadful weekend until Inoue saved it, Canelo wants to come a lot better than that for Crawford which he obviously will but it isn't a good sign. Age eventually comes for us all, he didn't look awful but he didn't look great at all, or like he had loads of desire, to me it seemed like the very beginning of him starting to miss a step. Or at least it could be.

Rolly is a funny chap I'll give him that, basically trashed talked himself into every decent position he's always been in, always looks confused, and I find him genuinely quite comical but it was certainly a bizarre weekend all round.
