It's primarily a base of African music (mainly east coast), with old French and some Indian influences. The older stuff is more creole/African sounding, and, in the way things move in circles, that sound is back in fashion on the island now, although there was a period of some decades when it got increasingly Indian/Pakistani in style. Here's a classic by Jacques Cantin, called "Noir Noir". Hope you like. Quote
