Not sure how likely it is, but the door's not shut yet. Yep, both are in Georgia. They have a rule that you must get 50 percent to win else the top two go through to a run-off. One's the equivalent of a Senate by-election and had multiple candidates from each party, so is definitely going to a run-off. The other was the scheduled Senate race with one candidate from each party, but it's so close it may well end up 49%-48% with the rest going to third parties. Both run-offs being the same day in the same place and potentially deciding control of the Senate means utter insanity in Georgia that week in terms of money pumped into campaigning and lawyers and the like.

Paid Members garynysmon Posted November 5, 2020 Paid Members Posted November 5, 2020 Its ridiculously close.
Paid Members Jazzy G Posted November 5, 2020 Paid Members Posted November 5, 2020 That'd be the one to get him over the line if the projections are to be believed. Mind you then there's the farce of the Wisconsin recount.

Paid Members Jazzy G Posted November 5, 2020 Paid Members Posted November 5, 2020 Does anybody have the gif of Kryten saying "ah, I believe we've reached the middle of the conversation" from White Hole?
Paid Members JNLister Posted November 5, 2020 Paid Members Posted November 5, 2020 Looks a lot like: * Nevada is at the point you could safely call it for Biden. * For the networks that have already called Arizona for Biden, that's 270 and done. * They really don't want to announce Biden as winning because there's a fear that the Arizona call might have been premature. It's a very slim risk that Trump wins there and then picks up Pennsylvania, Georgia and North Carolina, but nobody wants to be the network that wrongly called Biden as President. So don't be surprised if they hold fire and you get something like "We're calling Georgia/Pennsylvania for Biden and in an amazing coincidence we're able to call Nevada right now as well, congrats new Prez."
honor87 Posted November 5, 2020 Posted November 5, 2020 I wonder how the US will look one year from now, the hyper-partisan media on both sides has painted that anyone with a differing political opinion as evil and not to be trusted. In recent days a CNN Anchor, for example said they have cut people out of their life for even considering voting Trump. This is cult-like levels when people can’t even have discourse on who you vote for, when they very likely share many commonalities that are then ignored and instead shunned away. There are nuances to every choice that an individual is perfectly reasoned to make whether it be as simple as prioritising a candidate due to policies on taxes or medical care. As much as Biden will have won the popular vote and likely the presidency, at last check I think Trump still had about 58million votes which is still a very large portion of the voting population. There-in I think cities will be burning for a long time to come & do wonder if the US will/can ever recover from this point and the crazy media attitude just to get viewing figures may have finally reaped what it sowed.
Paid Members Jazzy G Posted November 5, 2020 Paid Members Posted November 5, 2020 I think Biden summed it up in his little "I'm not saying I've won, but it looks like I might win" speech in the way he's said he just wants to try and heal all the rifts. He's got a heck of a job to do if he does decide to try and do that. It'll certain be interesting to see where the whole world is a year, especially if Trump does manage to turn this around and snatch a win from what looks like the jaws of defeat.

Politics is exactly something you should cut people out of your life over. Any people I knew who voted Tory because they agree with their policies, or support EDL/Britain First type groups after it’s pointed out what they stand for (They use a lot of animal rights posts as a smokescreen and that plays well with well meaning people) those people are no longer in my life. Let the politicians try and win their vote, these people are entrenched and won’t change their mind so fuck them, I want nothing to do with them and likewise people don’t want anything to do with me for my political views.

I'm surprised to hear a news anchor admit that, but I find it completely understandable. If you haven't been living under a rock for the past four years (which people in the orbit of a news anchor hopefully haven't) then you have more than enough reasons to reject Trump with every fibre of your being. Supporting him now, when there's no plausible deniability as to knowing what kind of man and what kind of president he is, says a lot about a person's morality and ethics, and who wants to associate with someone whose values are so offensively at odds with their own?
