I honestly think this fight is a defining moment in the history of the sport.

It's rare that a fight like this caught the imagination of the general public yet also delivered from a fight perspective.

I think when we look back 10 or 20 years from now, we will see this Mcgregor/Diaz fight as a pivotal moment with the sport really cementing it's place in the mainstream.

I couldn't agree more, I can see a movie being made of the whole thing in the style of Rush.

Move starts with McGregor as a cocky star, Diaz just chilling on the streets and in his gym, Diaz gets the call.

The build up to the first fight only takes about 10 minutes but it establishes nobody gives Diaz a chance, scene with the Diaz brothers with Nate saying "if I just get one chance to land clean I can do this".

The fight.

Aftermath shows Diaz become a celebrity, McGregor sinks into depression and becomes obsessed with revenge

Scenes between McGregor and White falling out over 200, first time in the movie we start to realise that McGregor's persona is a front

Scenes with Dee where McGregor is saying he just wants to train, he has done his fair of selling (this scene mirrors the earlier Diaz Brothers scene)

The fight is signed and now McGregor is a much more likeable character (Think Rocky 2 from here on out)

The press conference

and then the final full on Rocky mode fight

Then they embrace at the end; McGregor has a proper 'Yo Adrian I did it' moment with Dee, whilst Nick taps his younger brother on the back and looks at him with the most 'We are all so proud of you' eyes

I'm hoping they setup Dillashaw/Faber providing Faber wins this weekend.

He can't have long left and that's probably the last money/intriguing fight left for him. Dillashaw can then get bsck into the title mix.

Faber doesn't fight till UFC 203 Sept 10th.

as much as im for Cruz/Garbrandt. I definitely wouldn't be against a Dillashaw/Garbrandt no. 1 contender fight first.

Garbrandt is a potential breakout star, he's also the guy who help push Dominic Cruz into the spotlight more. We are all seeing how much this sport is about feuds and Garbrandt is just made for them spots. He's a pretty boy on the surface but he's got a fan friendly style and has a legit chip on his shoulder.

I saw a Justin Bucholz interview after 202 where he mentioned how Garbrandt walked into a casino or something and the rest of the team got stopped by security, Bucholz said the team freaked out because they expected Garbradt to go looking for and attack Cruz. He seems like a bit of a loose cannon, it's gonna mean $$$ down the road because the guy seems to have legit. beef with people who challenge him. Remember Garbrandt was the one who stood upto Conor on TUF too.

Few random thoughts because I can't sleep...

• This Mike Perry is a proper knob. Fair dos though, stopping Lim in your UFC debut is good stuff. Lim's a tough bastard. I can tell Perry is going to be one of those twats I root against every time in a love to hate way. His weigh in antics did make me laugh though, i can't deny it.

• Wasn't keen on Lobov vs Avila. Thought that was the shittest fight on the card. Wasn't in love with Pennington's fight either.

• Haven't seen the fight yet but I'm chuffed with Larkin's stoppage win over Magny. I love watching Larkin but I thought Magny would probably make him look bad. Pleasantly surprised when I saw the result.

* Mike Perry has my attention, just a perfet example of a guy getting a chance and doing his utmost to make people take notice. He said himself post-fight that he'd either got everyone to either want to see him win or get his ass kicked. More fighters need to come in and try and cause a stir, Perry made more of a name for himself in one fight that some UFC fighters have done who are 10 fights into their stint. He's the new Phil Baroni.

* Chris Avila was a huge disappointment. I don't know if the occasion got to him but seemed like a guy who had no business being on that stage at this point of his career. He had the Diaz personality, he moved like a Diaz, he just didn't actually fight like one.

* Larkin's win was arguably the most impressive of the night. Considering the run Magny's been on and the guys he's beaten for Larkin to go in and just absolutely desroy him was wild. Performance of his career. I'd like to see a Larkin/Cerrone fight.

it was a weird performance, he slept walked his way through the pre-fight interviews but he had a lot of personality traits that the Diaz brothers have, it almost felt like he was mimmicking them. Lost little boy in there sums it up, it's not a nice way to put it but that's how it felt, he's 5-3 as a pro now and he hasn't beaten anyone of note, can't help but feel that he only got the shot because of who's associated with.

He was - especially at the press conferences - flipping people off with 2 hands, waving his arms around like a homeboy, shouting "come at me, dawg", the swagger, etc - it was a bit pathetic.
