WWE Elimination Chamber 2015 Discussion. *SPOILER ON WWE APP*

A historic PPV. The first ever Network Exclusive WWE PPV. Should we stop calling them PPV's now? I dunno. What else would we call them?

EC has had the best build of any B level PPV in ages. Everything has a reason for happening. The Chamber matches don't suffer from the predictability of previous ones. Comes off the back of several decent episodes of Raw back to back. I'm looking forward to this.

Strangely with 6 matches announced, there's no place on the card for Reigns or Orton. Dunno if that means we get some impromptu bonus match or skit?

Elimination Chamber - WWE Tag Team Titles - New Day © vs. Kidd & Cesaro vs. Ascension vs. Matadores vs. PTP vs. Lucha Dragons

They've done well to build anticipation for this one in just a couple of weeks considering half the teams are jobbers. It should be a really good match - the first tag EC match ever - because most of them can fly around. Hard to see it not coming down to New Day vs. Kidd & Cesaro again. I'm imagining a run-in from Xavier Woods while the door is open to let an eliminated team out. Hopefully constant eliminations in this one or the ring will fill up quickly.

Elimination Chamber - WWE IC Title - Sheamus vs. Barrett vs. Ryback vs. R-Truth vs. Ziggler vs. Rusev

They lucked into the IC title being vacated ahead of this one but whoever decided to crown the new champ in the Chamber deserves a pat on the back. Rusev being injured means the story of the match will lose some thing but we could see shenanigans to replace him. Bray Wyatt specialises in interfering in cages, right? Look out for him. Can't see past a Sheamus win myself.

John Cena vs. Kevin Owens

Easily the most intriguing match on the show. Owens main roster debut match. I can't see Cena losing but I'm not sure there's any value in Owens losing either. Owens doesn't look like he's in Cena's league but they've done an amazing job of making you believe he is. Should be the best match on the card. My biggest fear is a shit ending to force a re-match.

Nikki vs. Paige vs. Naomi

Meh.

Neville vs. Bo Dallas

Bit of filler. This should be good but they've not done a particularly great job of explaining the history between these two and the result looks a foregone conclusion.

WWE World Heavyweight Title - Seth Rollins © vs. Dean Ambrose

We've seen this before but these two have really good chemistry so this should be really good. Like several others in various threads, I'd like to see the upset win to spice things up for a few weeks but Reigns causing Ambrose to lose accidentally is possible too. They've re-built Ambrose really well and he's been a bundle of fun again. Telling the audience that he can win big matches would really cement his status.

I've been thinking the exact same thing. 'Big Event'?

This is- on paper at least- a level below the B-PPVs seeing as there's no Reigns or Orton, Cena is facing an NXT guy and the Colons have made it onto the card. But as Rick says the build-up has been much better than any ordinary B-PPV. I didn't give two shits about the last two shows but I'm well up for this.

The Cena/Owens match has really piqued my interest and I didn't think I'd look forward to a Rollins/Ambrose match again so soon- both of which are a testament to how well (and simply) they have been booked.

Throw in an elimination chamber match (which are almost always interesting to watch), a first tag team chamber match and Neville in action and it's a solid card.

I don't give a shit that Orton and Reigns aren't on the show. Everything that is on the show is there for a reason, I'm happy with the card going on without them than some thrown together shit that makes them look like afterthoughts.

I'm sticking with Bad News King to win the I title. Sticking it back on him is their holding pattern. He's the safe option. And plus they can build a defence against Neville and make everyone excited that the hot new prospect might win a belt.

My biggest fear is a shit ending to force a re-match.

This is virtually a guarantee for me. Kev isn't really ready to beat Cena, but losing this match decisively kills him before he's really off and running. That's the problem with starting at the top. I foresee some kind of multi-ref pull apart no contest after it descends into a chaotic brawl. As long as Owens isn't presented as out of his league or lucky to not get beat, I don't have a problem with it. I hope it's a good fight, which it should be, but as mad as this may sound to some, I kind of don't want there to be a decisive ending. This obviously won't be the last time they wrestle, since there is no such thing as the "one big match" run any more, so I'd rather just see something super intense that settles nothing and makes me look forward to the next match where it MIGHT get settled, as opposed to one guy winning just so it becomes inevitable that that the other guy wins the rematch.

I'm sure they don't. They've even been calling this a PPV.

Looking forward to it. Owens vs Cena should be great, the chamber matches will be different, title match will be great I'm sure. Reigns will be involved somehow, which is intriguing.

Technically you can only view it by paying for the network, so I guess we can get away with still calling it a PPV?

It is on Sky Sports 2 next Sunday ( 7th June ) 9-30pm

I'm sure they've been referring to PPVs as 'Special Event' for a while now.

They definitely did when the Network first launched. Then a couple of the major PPV providers threw their toys out and didn't carry one of the shows, and they were back to being PPVs again.

On that subject - is this a fully fledged 3hr dealy? So pretty much basically a PPV on the Network only, or is it a 2hr  "Network special" along the lines of a beefed-up version of the KOTR thing the other week?

It certainly feels more like the latter - lower card guys/matches getting into the Chamber (which I think is great, BTW), not everyone significant available booked (Reigns/Orton as previously mentioned - wonder if one/both might turn up in a talking capacity only?), and the way it was squeezed into the calendar as a new thing.

So yeah, something more akin to an IYH/SNME.

Kevin Owens arrived in a suit. They need to put him in the Authority as soon as possible.

Absolutely. He isn't someone who The Authority are just trying to get over either. He is someone who would benefit from working with Trips and Rollins but would also massively enhance The Authority as a stable. Which they need desperately. I can only think of Reigns on the current roster who'd have the same effect.
