Yeah it's your Nick Mondo's and those that took his style that are going to be most fucked, Nick wasn't even doing it for long before his body had had enough. I see guys like Lil Sicko and Mr Danger and think they're going to be truly fucked early while Jun Kasai is still going how many years after starting?

Ok maybe Jun does get a little more high flying than many but he's weirdly known how to pace himself in a way unlike anyone else.

I dread to think what kind of daily pain these death match lifers are in, people like Nick Gage and Abdullah Kobayashi must be completely fucked.

I met Kobayashi a couple of years ago when he wrestled a few shows here at the Welly nightclub in Hull.

Absolutely lovely fella.

Random fact: him and Iceman briefly fought outside the venue and Abby dropped an elbow on Iceman in the exact spot my mate had taken a drunken piss about an hour earlier.

I did feel bad when I realised all the import wrestlers were staying at the Campanile up the road, however. It is (was) a notorious hole of a place that is known by everyone in Hull as a hotel where you could pay for rooms by the hour should you wish (read into that what you will).

I was thinking that maybe Abby gets away with it because he takes about three back bumps a month for Big Japan, but if he’s dropping elbows on concrete at house shows I’m amazed he can still walk!

Jun Kasai is in great nick at the moment despite the traumas he’s put his body through, it’s remarkable really.

FREEDOMS/Jun Kasai Produce Blood X’Mas 2025 - 25.12.2025

Spoiler

King of FREEDOM World Championship
Fluorescent Lighttubes, Glass Board & Free Weapon Deathmatch

Violento Jack (c) vs Masashi Takeda (3rd defence)

It’s Christmas night and what better way to celebrate than to watch FREEDOMS annual Blood Xmas show. The main event is Violento Jack defending his crown against Masashi Takeda and boy it’s a doozy in front of a pretty impressive 1,217 fans at Korakuen

We dive straight in with Takeda slamming a gusset plate into Jack’s head before doing the same to himself to really get the adrenaline pumping. He attacks an already bloody Jack with scissors and then we get our first lighttube of the match, smashed across the back of the champ which begins to bleed a lot straight away.

IMG_3759.thumb.jpeg.820f51165fdad4862d8b01549b6a9def.jpeg

Takeda sets up a glass pane in the corner and a stunned Jack is trying to catch his breath near it. Takeda spots this and goes for a senton but Jack moves and Takeda smashes through the glass like an explosion to the delight of the crowd!

IMG_3760.thumb.jpeg.3957c45bd310b44d444431ac1fe5edf0.jpeg

While Takeda is down trying to recover his opponent is looking for furniture and finds a toothpick board under the ring (it’s amazing what’s just lying around under the FREEDOMS ring). He sets it up but has taken too long, Takeda reverses and manages to slam Jack into the picks. It looks an incredibly painful spot, especially as the camera pans down to show multiple picks embedded in Jack’s back. The crowd let out a collective gasp

IMG_3762.thumb.jpeg.a527be5e1a530f8f988590dce875cd2c.jpeg

If you thought a board of toothpicks was bad the stakes are upped when a fork board is introduced to the action. Takeda is the unlucky one here and gets slammed on to the forks

IMG_3763.thumb.jpeg.e1ba68cf9a7eac86b2c2efc7cb6b6e10.jpeg

If that wasn’t enough punishment the Crazy Kid he is then attacked with what I think is a razor board although it was hard to tell. Whatever it is I’m sure it bloody hurts

IMG_3764.thumb.jpeg.3d16f355d716026a385a807c4deedc6f.jpeg

Takeda has taken insane punishment in the last few minutes and obviously has a bad cut as the doctors are in the ring patching his back up. Whilst he is being attended to Jack goes to the outside and sets a glass table up on the floor.

The short rest for Takeda has given him a boost and he manages to take the upper hand while Jack was building furniture outside. He gets Jack down, puts him under the glass table, heads for the top rope and jumps off

IMG_3765.thumb.jpeg.99db942ad62a87f73599f3e6244b1942.jpeg

But the glass doesn’t break and the big risk Takeda took has not paid off.

IMG_3766.thumb.jpeg.75906a9cfed5edb045566445326f877f.jpeg

He’s in agony on the floor but attempts to go again. He climbs to the apron but Jack has recovered enough to take over. He grabs Takeda, puts him on his shoulders and does a kamikaze on him from the apron through the glass table

IMG_3767.thumb.jpeg.5826c71736c51ef1e22aa4c3ad206530.jpeg

IMG_3768.thumb.jpeg.b498ed17a4903b5579915bc5736d476e.jpeg

The crowd are going crazy for these guys as they slowly get back to the ring. They both pick up more tubes and just run in to each other to get the spooky dust going

IMG_3769.thumb.jpeg.b4812e6d84449d51afe3299dcb78e1d7.jpeg

Lots of back and forth and both men getting more and more tired as blood continues to flow from their backs and heads. Jack is beginning to slow down and Takeda starts to take charge. He sits Jack down and kicks a tube right into his chest

IMG_3770.thumb.jpeg.f2256d147e48af90a2d4d86a4bc2efb7.jpeg

Takeda can feel the tide turning and wants that final blow to get Jack down for good. He grabs the fork board that caused him so much pain earlier and lays it down in the ring. He tries to lift Jack and slam him on to the forks but is tired and also slipping on the bloody body of Jack. He gets him up but only manages a glancing blow to Jacks shoulder on the forks and it’s not enough to get the three count

IMG_3771.thumb.jpeg.21bf9471940f9d25415e7118ade53c49.jpeg

Takeda has used all his energy to do the last few moves and he is really struggling. Jack takes the lead, smashes more Lighttubes and Takeda’s back is full of glass

IMG_3773.thumb.jpeg.09f19fb1015fdaa7b24a5e3709b6aa48.jpeg

IMG_3772.thumb.jpeg.0bd66c59b0be514935385a7737d57e19.jpeg

Jack knows the Crazy Kid is almost done and to finish him off the fork board comes out for a third time. Jack picks Takeda up and does a package piledriver on to the forks which brings the atrocity to an end.

IMG_3774.thumb.jpeg.692a312ffb0d27f460dcb1092c046f18.jpeg

It was a hell of an effort by both guys and a lovely Christmas present for us sickos. Violento Jack lifts his belt up high as Takeda goes to the back to get stitched up

Had a shitter of a morning and was sat listening to the radio thinking shall I just go back to bed. Then Planet Rock have just played Separate Ways by Journey which is Matt Tremont’s entrance music and it’s got me all fired up! Just what I needed! If I had an air horn here I would blast it along to the music like that GCW fan does.

Wrestling is stupid, even more so this deathmatch bollocks, but I couldn’t be without it

Anyway here’s a Best of Tangled Web matches from CZW. I haven’t watched the video yet but the matches were always good fun so I’m looking forward to checking this out later

It's an interesting one because some of them barely take bumps (or at least not as many as your average normal wrestler will in a match) so while they might be getting cut to shreds nightly I guess you can heal from cuts pretty quickly while long term continous bumping will fuck up most the major parts of your body over time.

Yeah, I see what you are saying.

I listened to a Madman Pondo interview recently and he said he doesn't do anything he doesn't think he can so safely, he's never really been one to take insanse bumps either (though there are some in there). I mean, you still have to be some kind of nutter to do it, because even if you don't have pain from bumping, constantly having wounds all over your body must be pretty miserable.

Can Gage even get into the UK with his criminal record?

Its a tricky one, he will definitely need to sort it out and enquire obviously but with it being over 10 years ago (I know)  things like that are a lot trickier if its fairly recent) and the sentence was 5 years, so just over the amount of years they usually prefer so to speak (4), and the fact he hasn't been a career crim as such. with convictions as long as your arm and he is coming over to fulfil a professional booking rather than wander about willy  nilly then he may have a good chance.

Its still up to their discretion though so of course it may not fly but I have a feeling might be ok, I'm sure he complied with parole (probation), to my knowledge he hasn't been in trouble since?

Its an interesting one though. They may even look at the mitigating factors in his case and see his life was an absolute shit show at the time and the crime was one born out of spur of the moment idiocy and desperation rather than sheer criminal conspiracy.

Yeah, it's certainly an interesting case.  I'd like to think they'd have made sure he was getting in before announcing him, but it's BritWres....

And whilst it's technically a professional booking, I'm not sure your "I'm coming over to compete in a wrestling deathmatch" is really going to help his cause any if they decide to look into the case in more detail.

Yeah I would have thought the promoters have done their research into this and if they havent then it is a bit foolish on their part.

Yeah I definitely wouldlnt be mentioning 'deathmatch' if I was him  I would say 'ive been booked on a local wrestling show and that is it'.

If no enquiries have been done and the application hasn't even been sent off then I dont reckon it will fly. When I think about it im sure i read in an interview with Gage where he said he didn't think he would be able to get into Canada. We'll see.

I cannot believe it's finally happening I will be seeing and meeting nick gage here in the UK I am stunned it's his first time ever in the UK even before the conviction but it's something he's wanted for years and been trying to make happen and I'm beyond happy and I'm going to Essex for this show.

Also shlak is on the show/Weekender all I want now is Tremont and my life is complete

GCW Code of the Streets 2026 - 17.01.2026

Spoiler

GCW Ultraviolent Championship
Deathmatch
Matt Tremont (c) vs Otis Cogar (26th defence)
****

Otis Cogar won the New Years Eve Do or Die Battle Royale to earn himself a title shot. As his brother, and VNDL48 teammate, Atticus Cogar is the GCW champ Otis has decided to fight Matt Tremont for ultraviolent glory

The challenger makes his entrance dressed like the champ and is wearing a horrible looking face mask which gets a disturbed look from the ref

IMG_3891.thumb.jpeg.7f7795c09a3061d33155a851d1a41047.jpeg

The action starts and straight away Tremont reminds Cogar why he’s the champ by opening him up with a fork. Cogar’s face is a mess and they’ve only been at it a minute

IMG_3893.thumb.jpeg.05c7d3e38588b55f4184743f9d6902e1.jpeg

Cogar already under pressure but hits Tremont with a lighttube bundle for some breathing room.

IMG_3894.thumb.jpeg.24f964c9bf4b04d42f1800381cd2ee45.jpeg

He follows that up with some gusset plates and then bleeds all over Tremont while biting the scar tissue on the top of his head

IMG_3896.thumb.jpeg.fae716343ab2d94f3f7864a486d7bc07.jpeg

Cogar sets up a barbed wire table outside the ring but Tremont recovers enough to push Cogar back into his own creation.

IMG_3897.thumb.jpeg.9276add962b0efb091b58cb1a6c09c22.jpeg

Rather than a test of strength we get an exchange of lighttubes and the air is thick with spooky dust.

IMG_3899.thumb.jpeg.9f0e896e5bf1da0985ea1a4727d1e5a7.jpeg

A door is set up in the corner. Cogar goes to spear the Champ through it but gets countered into a backdrop. Cogar is lying in the broken door and blood is still pouring out of his head

IMG_3901.thumb.jpeg.59fc1aaf64be755e6ae8b27afc9be1fd.jpeg

Tremont goes for broke and attempts a lighttube splash from the top rope but Cogar gets out the way just in time. He follows that up with a moonsault to Tremont for a near fall.

IMG_3905.thumb.jpeg.d7002d06f3b17982d8b100e6cb76401b.jpeg

Tremont begins to fight back and sets up a glass bridge in the ring. As he turns round to grab his victim he is smashed in the head with a steel chair and hits the deck.

IMG_3909.thumb.jpeg.e9d871839445cf601649a592a04c12e3.jpeg

Sensing an opportunity Cogar pushes Tremont under the glass and goes up to the top turnbuckle with the steel chair in hand. He hits a moonsault, with the chair, which crushes that glass pane into the Champ.

IMG_3913.thumb.jpeg.72ee16747024b9820cc95249864d6113.jpeg

It’s too much for Tremont who can’t kick out and his reign comes to an end, two days before he would have celebrated a year with the title

New champ Otis celebrates in the ring with his brother Atticus as we enter the VNDL48 era of GCW

This popped up in my recommendations today, and thought it might interest this thread.

Finally remembered to give this a watch. Cracking little documentary.

My main takeaway though is that neither of them seem to know how to blade sensibly (or maybe they do and just choose to do it that way) Horrendous gashes down Iceman's forehead after each of the matches in this. Harrop's forehead is a mess of scars and scabs after only a few years in the scene.
