The Clint
Sir Rog had three good Bond films maximum  Bollocks. A View To A Kill was his only weakest outing . Roger didn't even want to do that one as he knew himself he was too old to be playing Bond at this stage but he was talked into it.
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted July 6, 2016 Moderators Share Posted July 6, 2016 Urgh. Wasn't there a specific Bond thread for all this kind of rubbish? Â Bond is wank.
Paid Members waters44 Posted July 6, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted July 6, 2016 Pretty disappointed that Sky aren't doing the usual Sky Movies 007 channel seeing as Spectre is the premiere this week. I was hoping to catch a few I haven't seen yet
Paid Members Sergio Mendacious Posted July 6, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted July 6, 2016 Bond in general isn't my thing, but the Connery films are massive. I can't imagine much more of a dodgy trade-in than Connery > Lazenby > Moore. It's like driving around in a Ferrari, and then being told you're going to have to strap on some roller skates from that point on, with a brief period in the middle where you somehow have to ride a dog to work (At least Moore is an actor, Lazenby was not fit for purpose).
RIDDUM_N_STYLE
Watched the 1958 version of The Fly before as I'd never seen it, absolutely brilliant piece of B movie goodness  Straight after that I watched an old favourite of mine in the 1986 Transformers film, which is still visually stunning 30 years on. Looking forward to getting the new Shout Factory bluray of the film later in the year

It is vastly underrated, incredibly dark, and filled with motivational speeches and direction. For a Pat who was devoid of much parental emotiona interaction, it has become a weird moral guidance in so much as that no matter how shit things get determination is half the battle in getting through it. #tilallareone
DeanoTheGame
I watched that animated Transformers film after it ended up in a 'Favourite Films' poll on here. It's shit. Not as shit as the live-action Bay films, but shit nonetheless.
Paid Members bAzTNM#1 Posted July 7, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted July 7, 2016 (edited)  I don't even know what canon is in relation to Bond movies, so if both Casino Royales are canon, with the original being a tongue in cheek take on the book, and Never Say Never Again is a tongue in cheek take on Thunderball, then I'd say it is. Film canon would be the Eon produced franchise films. Niven's Casino Royale and Connery's Never Say Never Again are footnotes.  Never Say Never Again isn't a tongue in cheek take on Thunderball, it's a straight-up retelling of the same story produced by the guy that had done the screenplay of Thunderball (Kevin McClory). At one point he was meant to be reviving it again with Warhead 2000. It was down to rights, but effectively McClory could make rogue "Bond" films involving Bond franchise characters as long as they were all the same story as Thunderball :-D McClory has since died.  I've always been surprised Pierce Brosnan hadn't pulled the same kind of stuff after he publically got shafted after "Die Another Day" (which was shit, to be fair). Broccollis ended up getting the rights back anyway.  Pierce Brosnan is a fucking great actor. Not just suave and good looks you know (not gay). "Remington Steele" was fucking shit though. Definately the worst 80s "light" crime TV show for me. Edited July 7, 2016 by bAzTNM#

Paid Members bAzTNM#1 Posted July 8, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted July 8, 2016 (edited) "Octopussy" and "Never Say Never Again" are both terrible films IMO. "NSNA" had the strangeness of Connery coming back to wind up the Broccollis though. 1983 was not a good year for a Bond fan. Paid Members CoreyVandal Posted July 10, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted July 10, 2016 (edited) Can someone explain to me why Gone Girl is meant to be good? Because Ive just finished watching it and I thought it was so bad it's actually left me angry. Seriously, if it wasnt for Fincher's directing I dont see what makes it any different than one of those shit made-for-tv Hallmark channel films. Just a string badly paced, brutally unsubtle cliches, and caricatures in place of characters, leading to a frustrating non-ending. Sometimes the performances were great, but then at other times they'd veer into cartoons, and for the last 15 minutes it felt like Ben Affleck had completely checked out. It was also incredible bloated and felt like certain points were hammered home 3-4 times when they only needed to be addressed once. I understand the issues in adapting across mediums, and I'll admit that I can see this working a lot better as a novel, but as a film I thought it was just a complete waste of time. This film can just fuck right off! Edited July 10, 2016 by CoreyVandal
Paid Members Scott Malbranque Posted July 10, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted July 10, 2016 I watched Green Room again last night. Anton Yelchin should have been given the Kyle Resse gig in Terminator Genisys. He pretty much channels Michael Biehn in every scene he’s in, in Green Room. I really believe he would have made Genisys better (as one of my main problems was Kyle Reese being a wise cracking meathead) had they kept Yelchin on in the role. Paid Members Scott Malbranque Posted July 10, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted July 10, 2016 I'm gutted I couldn't find it in the cinema near me. Where did you watch it?First time I saw it was at a screening a few months back, Chokey, and my pots were rinsed watching it in the dark.Last night I got it on a website that does indeed, Kickass. So if you're not of the guilty disposition when it comes to watching movies, I implore you to get it down asap. One scene in particular was Duane Hicks incarnate. I'm not spoiling anything but you'll know when you see Yelchin and Poots talking on a sofa, and it's actually impossible not to say, or think, "Hicks!!!" Going to watch Blue Ruin tonight as I haven't watched past the first half hour of that yet, despite numerous attempts.
