TNA Bound For Glory 2012 Offical Discussion Thread (THIS SUNDAY)

At least with Devon there's a legitimate storyline reason for him siding with Bischoff's gang against Hogan and TNA.

Which is?

I dont understand the reasoning at all, sure it's cool to see devon as a heel but tna/hogan spent ageeeees putting devon over before/after his contract negotiations with hogan enthusiasing over him on twitter and sayuing how he wanted him to re-sign and did the same in interviews, he also got the television title. And got made into garretts protege.

The most tna did for him in the bischoff era was force team 3d to retire so doesnt really make sense.

What's terrible about him? He's not the best in the ring, and he's nowhere near as charismatic as he seems to think he is, but he's got an entertaining character, he's not hideously botcheriffic and he's comparatively solid on the mike.

Passable in the ring doesn't warrant a PPV match on BFG. He doesn't have a character, he's supposed to have this 'sleazy' character but other than the pose in the corner and the porn-stache, what's sleazy about him? His promos have been boring as sin. Wether they've been written for him or not, doesn't really matter. There's guys sitting doing nothing on the roster who could have had a match at BFG in place of this.

He's the best to come out of the Gut Check thing, sure, but that's not saying much.

He's got lots of little things that add to the character, like the tongue in the mouth, the moustache flick, the "who wants a moustache ride?" catchphrase, etc. To be fair, though, this feud hasn't exactly placed him in a position to show off everything he's got - for about half of it, he was effectively playing an odd sort of face, before going full-blown heel in the last couple of weeks. Sure, he's not the best thing I've ever seen on TV, and for a long while, I thought he was absolute dross, but he's clearly got something, and they just need to write a bit more for him to see where he can take it.

I agree he shouldn't have been on BFG, though - should've been some sort of Xplosion match, really. But ultimately, one could argue it was put on the PPV more to give the fans a small mark-out moment with Al Snow bringing back Head.

I'd wait until he's in there with somebody that isn't Al Snow, before butchering him. He's in the mold of a Robbie E; solid midcarder with a nifty gimmick. Personally, I see potential in his association with Matt Morgan, Morgan has always excelled playing the muscle for others.

He hasn't done any of that on television though. If I'm mistaken, point out a time when he has done. The best thing he's done since he's been in TNA was use the 'you don't leave money on the table' line, but that was one good line.

I'm sure there's plenty of different ways to have Al Snow & Head get a small pop, but building this for so many months wasn't the way to go. If it happened on Impact, Xplosion or the pre-show I probably wouldn't care as much, but it was on BFG and Joey Ryan hasn't shown anything in my opinion.

I know he's got a rep on the Indy scene, but that means fuck all if you can't/don't do it when it matters.

Yeah, I should've mentioned this too. Give Ryan a Diesel in the shape of Morgan, and you kill two birds with one stone, covering up both guys' weaknesses and giving them both something interesting to do.

The tongue in the mouth is something he starts every match with. Snow even mentioned it on his Gut Check. The moustache flick, he did to Aries in his match, and he's done it on his entrances too. The "who wants a moustache ride" he's done in a promo, but he might have done that on the indy circuit - will have to check that up and get back to you on it.

Well, there's the other side of things to consider: basic booking means you can't have "up" matches all throughout the card, you've got to have "down" ones as well, so as not to burn out the crowd, and this was a perfect "down" match. A relatively harmless bit of fun, with a minor feud getting some progression, the fans get a small mark-out, another guy re-introduced without having to stick him with Aces & Eights, and all done in a way so as not to detract from the rest of the night.

As to whether or not Ryan's shown anything, well, clearly we differ, hence the debate. I think he's shown just about enough to warrant giving him a start, and seeing if he'll run with the opportunity he's been given. He's certainly shown a lot more than not just the Gut Check guys, but also the indy shitarses we had to sit through for that recent X-tournament. I could definitely stand to see more Joey Ryan than Rashad Cameron or Lars Only.

Like I said, I thought he was absolute dross on the indy scene. When they initially announced him for Gut Check I was rolling my eyes. That match, though, piqued my interest, and I've been mildly looking forward to Ryan instalments ever since.

Joey Ryan is certainly charismatic and has a lot of character to him. As a wrestler, I think he's dull as fuck. I've been watching him in PWG for ages and have always found that to be the case, apart from when he's in the Dynasty tag team. I've not seen much from him in TNA that would make me change my mind. He's certainly infinitely more interesting since the move though.

Although I'd say the match with Al Snow was perfectly placed after such a hot and gruelling match.

One thing that could be a positive for Ryan, provided he listens and learns, is that he'll be around a large group of guys with experience and knowhow, and who will give him advice on how to up his game. Here's hoping he's the type to absorb that info.

Apparently TNA had Aries come out before the show kicked off to cut a heel promo on the fans. Not only did it fail, but his entrance for the promo was the 2nd loudest pop of the night. I wonder if TNA will continue with Aries as a heel after him coming out of the PPV looking like their biggest active babyface.

The interview was on the post show. Just because you get a pop in front of a smart crowd who hate Jeff Hardy, doesn't mean he'll still be a babyface. The reason Aries lost the belt to Hardy has nothing to do with pops in front of a smart crowd. Its because Hardy is the only star they have. If they were handing out titles because of reactions, Hogan would have won the belt in 2010 and still wouldn't have dropped it.

I wouldnt have said they seemed like a smart crowd for the rest of the show.

You are right though, victories shouldnt be handed out due to how over someone is with the crowd. After all they might actually make their own star who can shift merch when Jeff fucks off back to WWE.

In the storyline, despite having a solid win / loss record and being the TV champion, TNA (not Hogan... TNA) didn't think twice about firing him. He lost his job, he lost his big chance at single stardom and he lost his championship. To make matters worse they retain the employment of his dick of a brother who betrayed him.Wouldn't you be pissed?!?!

Watched this last night and Storm/Roode was ace. Storm really can bleed can't he? Roode with the drawing pins in the back of his noggin' made me wince a little bit though.

Was really into the Sting/Bully vs Aces and 8's match until my sky conked out just as Bully got the table and then when it came back on it was the start of the Hardy/Aries match.

Anyone know if it will be repeated again at any point?

Except they didn't fire him his contract "ran out" and yes whilst it was tna... Not hogan doing the negotiations you still saw hogan all over twitter gushing about d-von how great he was for morale, a team player, a great wrestler, a nice guy etc and how he was hopeful d-von would come back. He even put him over on tv when announcing the tournament for t tv title iirc.

Hogan doing all that is completely at odds with the idea that tna fired him.

Hell even d-von was complimentary about tna on twitter as well so nothing hinted towards him being pissed off or let down by tna or hogan did it?

Don't think Devon ever left. More than likely signed a new deal around the same time Bully did.

Either way it should be really interesting to see how Devon does in this new role he has.
