Paid Members tiger_rick Posted January 16, 2015 Author Paid Members Share Posted January 16, 2015 When and how did Lawler debut in the WWF? I've always had it in my head that he came in in 1993 but I re-watched the '93 Rumble yesterday and he's in it.
WyattSheepMask
That was his first appearance, but I think it was just going to be a one time thing. His proper debut came a couple of months later on RAW televised April 5th (taped March 22nd) against Jim Powers. They had him refuse to do the match twice and then it went on at the end Edited January 16, 2015 by WyattSheepMask
Pinc
Along similar lines - when exactly was Shane McMahon's proper debut? I know he'd appeared as a referee and a couple of other bitparts from the early 90s on, but his actual debut as Vince's son must've been early in the initial Austin/McMahon feud? Late '97 or summat? Googling Shane McMahon debut doesn't shed a great deal of light.

That sounds familiar and I really couldn't remember a prior appearance. Monsoon just acted on commentary like he was a guy we'd all know. Confused me. WyattSheepMask
The first time I remember Shane he was commentating, I think it was on Heat in 98(?) and someone (presumably Austin) got in his face
Paid Members garynysmon Posted January 16, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted January 16, 2015 (edited) Lawler made his on-screen debut on Prime Time Wrestling in late '92 I think. Yeah, I was watching the first episode of Heat last week as it happens. Shane McMahon escorted by two dolly birds after being introduced by Vince, and making Jim Ross shift from his seat. MichaelMush
Lawler started as a commentator on Superstars in December 1992. In the Rumble Heenan says that he's the best commentator on Superstars.

He introduces Lawler as the "host of Superstars" but Monsoon doesn't take the bait so he repeats it about 5 minutes later and then Monsoon responds "Vince McMahon is the host of Superstars". Paid Members Your Fight Site Posted January 16, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted January 16, 2015 (edited) Watching NXT and I’m absolutely sick of Alex Riley’s faux, “[Wrestler] for the win! Paid Members WWFChilli Posted January 16, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted January 16, 2015 Yeah Lawler debuted on Dec 6th Prime Time. I always found it odd he was potentially booked to face Tenryu at Mania IX

And multiple times. He's gone really bad, lately. Not in annoying heel way, more in a genuinely obnoxious annoying way. Does Dunn produce all the commentary teams? Dr.PeterVenkman
They should have someone debut one year in the Rumble and win it, Mania has about 3-4 main event calibre matches so it doesn't matter if someone in the title match is a relative unknown plus you've got 2 months to build them up, it'd make the Rumble more exciting in the years after too
Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted January 17, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted January 17, 2015 (edited) I was watching Stu Hart's induction into the HOF today (never seen it before), and I didn't know Bruce Hart had a tooth pick in his mouth during the whole thing. Look at the fucking state of him. This is a registered sex offender who had so little respect in the business Doink The Clown felt secure enough about his job to rib him live on pay-per-view. What's this cunt got to be so smug about? No idea why he brought Norman Pace and the keyboard player from Phoenix Nights with him either. In fact all the Harts just came across as weirdos. A mix of people who didnt want to be there and people who thought they should have been far more involved. Paid Members Quentin Posted January 17, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted January 17, 2015 What's the stories there Ian? Sex offender and the Doink rib? I read Bruce's book recently and it's fucking nuts but obviously neither of these were mentioned. He's quite a fascinating character. Even for the Harts he's the mental one. Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted January 17, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted January 17, 2015 (edited) He's a substitute teacher who got a 14 year old student pregnant. And Doink threw a bucket of water in his face at SummerSlam 93 without him knowing it. The latter is funny as fuck. Here. I never noticed he fell on his arse as well. Hilarious gag. http://www.wwe.com/videos/doink-the-clowns-entrance-at-summerslam-1993-26785218 Edited January 17, 2015 by IANdrewDiceClay
