In defence of Bret, stroke victims are prone to "emotional fookedness" :

Emotional lability, another consequence of stroke, causes the patient to switch quickly between emotional highs and lows and to express emotions inappropriately, for instance with an excess of laughing or crying with little or no provocation... these expressions of emotion usually correspond to the patient's actual emotions.

When has wikipedia been wrong, eh? Apart from that time it said the guy who wrote the The Last of the Summer Wine theme tune also wrote "Reach" by S Club 7 and it was quoted in a national newspaper in his obituary.

I'd fucking love to see the Self-Destruction-style video they'd knocked together before Bret got back on board though. Didn't Lawler stick the boot in on that one as well? I bet some of them came off as a right set of bastards.

It's amazing just how many guys passed through WCW at one point or another. Still, I reckoned I was probably aware of all the name guys by now; Turns out was mistaken, as I was watching some Power Hour earlier, and stumbled across The Minotaur!

Interesting character too, he had a cracking look. A bit like Rhyno crossed with Mesias. And he had a beast of a clothesline, which endeared him to me , even if he was a bit shit, which he may or may not have been.

I'm now re-evaluating - there's still probably dozens of guys who came in for a couple of weeks hidden away on Pro and Power Hour that i'm not aware of. The revolving door and their willingness just to throw guys in was one of the things that made WCW so interesting, and was in stark contrast to the WWF where everyone knows everyone who appeared, even one-offs.

Yeah, JW Storm got a monster push for a few weeks before Brad Armstrong ended his streak.

I'd fucking love to see the Self-Destruction-style video they'd knocked together before Bret got back on board though.

Why? It would just be a video of forced faux opinions with no balance. You can picture the criticisms before hand: took himself too seriously, poor talker, poor matches in WCW etc. Sitting through two hours of that would be a dull affair.

I'm sure ther's enough people who genuinely don't like him / enough bad stories to tell about him that it wouldn't be all false and forced.

I agree with Rockwell. I've just finished re-reading his book and he just comes across as a total penis.

Shane Douglas is giving the promoting game another go. At least the business model isn't ex-ECW wrestlers this time.

NEW TV PROMOTION BASED OUT OF LAS VEGAS IN PLANNING STAGES, FULL DETAILS

By Mike Johnson on 2014-03-26 15:43:37

A new wrestling promotion titled The Classic Wrestling Federation has been contacting potential talent over the last several weeks, seeking to sign them to letters of intent that the talents would be interested in working for the promotion if and when it launches.

According to material given to the talents, the CWF promotion's plan is to partner with a Las Vegas casino and run wrestling events up to six days a week for the purpose of producing 36-44 hours of original TV episodes.

The letter of intent notes, "The purpose of the CWF project is to return to American culture the classic sport of wrestling as made popular by the likes of Bruno Samartino, George Steele, Triple H, Andre the Giant, Baron Von Raschke."

Shane Douglas and Cody Michaels have been providing the letters to several talents PWInsider.com has spoken with. Multiple messages have been left for Michaels in the last week.

The letter of intent also notes that the promotion would "may expand" to running live arena events "with an initial focus" on Pennsylvania, and the surrounding region.

The letter of intent also notes that the promotion, "intends to set base pay for our wrestler athletes and on‐air talent higher than current alternatives, to offer health insurance benefits or stipends, a 401k retirement plan and other benefits, and to create a profit‐sharing plan where all athletes share in the success of the company. In addition, CWF intends to make a percentage of television revenue available to retiring wrestlers in the form of a company operated pension plan."

The letter of intent notes that it is "non-binding" in that the wrestler signing it can choose not to work for the company when it launches and that signing it was not a guarantee of a position within the company.

Wrestlers were not given a timetable for the potential launch of the promotion.

His name seems a bit out of place here?

I've glanced through some recent interviews with Chris Jericho and he really comes across like a right prick, the way he talks about wrestling and WWE its almost as if he's to good for it all now and is very blasay (if thats how you spell it) its almost as if he's embarrassed by his career. He talks about whether he may or may not return to WWE and it seems as if he's thinking the fans and the WWE should hold their breath while he decides, his wifes not a fan and his kids aren't fans and there not really bothered about wrestling....I think they need to realise its wrestling/WWE that got them the big house and their comfortable living.

I used to really respect Jericho and his long and varied career, I've read both his books and I really thought I felt his passion for wrestling but I suppose the Rock and Roll music lifestyle has dwindled that passion or it could be the fact, he's done with wrestling and now feels his can look down upon it. I couldn't care if he returns or not, he's no Austin, Rock, Hogan as much as I can imagine he feels he is. He's probably made a lot of money over the years and probably continues to do so but he needs to realise that if theres ever a time his music career falls flat on its arse its more Chris Jericho that will need WWE than WWE needs Chris Jericho.

Fozzy are a nothing band that have played rock & roll meccas such as Hull's Welly Club (famous for having a sticky floor at the start of the night) and Yardbirds in Grimsby and supporting rock heavyweights like Soil and Ugly Kid Joe. They tour the UK every six months because nowhere else wants them. He does is it because he can and wants to do other things with his life and doesnt simply want to known as Chris Jericho the wrestler. He's done everything he could possibly want to in wrestling and goes back when can benefit from it whilst he tries to make a name for himself doing other things which sadly won't happen for him because he always be labelled as a wrestler. Fozzy is his priority at the moment, but they will always be know as the band that has a wrestler as its singer
