I have got a feeling Matt Hamill will win escapilly if Rampage underestimates him 2round tko for me. Also if Matt Hamill wins is he close to a title shot?

I don't think Hamill has the power to KO Rampage. I do think he has the ability to stand as long as necessary in order to take Rampage down and win a close decision. Surely if Hamill wins he's 2 fights away from a title shot. However, if Jones is still the champ would it make sense to do the rematch considering how badly Jones battered him before. (Yes I know technically Hamill got the win but he was decimated).

I'm picking a Big Country TKO in Round 1, a Struve submission and an Alves 2nd round TKO.

it appears the Rampage factor aint working...

The 5/28 Las Vegas show had $1.5 million in tickets sold to the public, which would probably be around 4,500, but that doesn't include casino sales which for Vegas are substantial. But that's well below the usual pace for a PPV show in that city for non-casino sales. The card wasn't doing well with Gray Maynard vs. Frankie Edgar on top and losing the main event isn't going to help matters.

Very strange Rampage interview conducted today by Ariel Helwani:

Link

There is a couple of times that Rampage is seconds away from hitting Ariel, really unprofessional from Rampage - his attitude since TUF 11 has really put me off as a fan of his, to the extent that I'm hoping Hamill knocks him out.

Just an absolute dick.

Thats some unprofessional shit right there. Rampage has really done a 180 in the last couple of years. Hes a guy that is very easy to like but squaring up to a reporter the size of Ariel is just stupid. Just a really uncomfortable interview, well handled by Ariel though

To be fair Ariel isn't exactly faultless. He says a lot of things with a smug look on his face

"I'm glad we sorted out our differences"

"Can you tell me not what to say"

"You kind of hurt my feelings last time"

Rampage was just being Rampage, he clearly doesn't like the guy and he was still trying to throw in a bit of humour at the same time. He didn't exactly get that much in Ariel's face and I'm sure he didn't really take "squash" out of context, he was having a joke just as much as Ariel and playing up to the cameras.

 Now that just sounds like Rampage fanboy responses you'd get on Sherdog forums.

I don't know how anyone can try to defend his attitude. It doesn't matter whether he likes an interviewer or not, you've got to be professional and thats as big a part of the job than actually fighting. And if he is trying to be a full-time actor after fighting, he's going to come across more interviewers he won't like and have to do way more interviews anyway.

As far as Ariel's responses you've listed, whats wrong with any of them? He was trying to lighten the tension and if you'd have seen his original interview with Rampage (Here, if you haven't seen it) - you'd understand why Ariel could be upset by it.

Simply put: You didn't see any Strikeforce guys trying to fight Gus Johnson - although you can guarantee they'd have loved to.

Rampage was just being Rampage

Yeah, a stupid prick who might be funny when he's recycling his four or five jokes, but gets completely exposed as the bell-end that he is whenever he's required to actually think and/or engage in proper conversation.

I didn't hear the first interview so I've just listened to it. Thanks for the link.

Ariel starts off the interview asking him annoying questions about Xbox, questioning why he doesn't want to give out his 'gamer tag' then just carries on asking him one too many console questions. I was even cringing listening to it.

I wasn't defending his actions, I was pointing out that Ariel isn't exactly faultless, his smug grinning and annoying questions reminds me a bit of how Simon Amstell (who is great by the way) used to interview people on PopWorld.

And Rampage being Rampage might just well mean being a prick, he did go on a driving rampage a few years back so he isn't exactly normal. I'm no Rampage fanboy at all, I think every fight he's been in I've always wanted the other person to win (Griffin/Liddel) or not really cared about who won (Evans/Machida). But the fact is, he might have gotten in Ariel's face a bit but he didn't need to be pulled away or anything, he didn't lose his cool. He was just acting a bit like a bully, not exactly majorly unprofessional just a bit of a prick.

Also MOM, comparing promoting a movie with promoting a fight is complete rubbish, if you come across a prick in UFC who cares, people will pay to see you get beat, if you come across like a prick promoting a movie then no one will go watch you. Complete contrast sorry.

EDIT: I would like to retract/rephrase one thing...if Rampage was promoting a fight on David Letterman then yes that would be unprofessional but as this interview is clearly targeted to MMA fans then it can't be described as similar to a movie. Hope that makes sense.

Man that Helwani interview is strange. I've been a big fan of Rampage for years but there's times when he makes it really hard to root for him. It's one thing acting like this to other fighters but doing it to reporters and stuff is weak.

He knew damn well that Ariel wasn't trying to start something with him he was just in a bad mood and being a twat. I'm still rooting for him to win vs Hamill cos it makes the title picture more interesting but man what a knob he's made of himself there.

A couple of bets that I think are worth a couple of quid each, both with William Hill:

Alves vs Story to be FOTN - 9/1

Quinton Jackson, Roy Nelson and Brian Stann all to win by KO/TKO - 25/1

both of them gotta be worth a punt! Especially the 2nd bet,

I don't know why they've got Rampage vs Hamill as the main event, Mir vs Nelson is the bigger fight in my eyes.

It is to me as well. The main reason I can think why it isn't the main event is because the last time Frank Mir was in the main event, he had a fucking stinker against Mirko Cro Cop at UFC 119.

yeh, that wasn't that bad. I think Rampage had every right to say he wouldn't have done the interview if he'd realised Ariel was the guy that talked shit on twitter (i dont know what he said by the way)....he was back in playful mode soon enough. It was actually pretty cool to see em try to sort it out on camera.
