Paid Members Tommy! Posted March 6, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted March 6, 2011 Day 01 - Your first video game: Â Harrier Attack on the Amstrad or Maths Grand Prix or Spiderman on the Atari 2600. Both were my older sisters and I played these games a lot and was very young so as such can't recall which would be first. Â I still love Harrier Attack, its such a fun game and so simple. It's been an age since I dusted off the 2600.
Super Cena
My first game was F1 1998 on my brand spanking new PS1. I think I spent the whole of Christmas 98 playing that game even though as history has shown it was not one of the great F1 game. Â Oh man, me and my mates spent a ton of time on this as young 'uns. Fucking awesome times. Â I remember also spending a massive amount of time playing the original Formula 1 game for the PS1 after picking it up cheap in a second hand store (not too sure what year it was as it was just titled "Formula 1"). Â Edit - A quick Wiki search has confirmed my suspicion - 1996

Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted March 6, 2011 Moderators Share Posted March 6, 2011 I think my first might have been Paperboy. Â It took me absolutely forever to figure out what they were trying to tell me when that graphic comes up telling you which houses you're meant to deliver to, and even then I couldn't ever remember so I would deliver to every house. I'm still not entirely sure what you were meant to do..? Â It was all about getting to the awesome bonus round bit though, anyway.
Paid Members Fatty Facesitter Posted March 6, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted March 6, 2011 Day One- First game. Â Take your Pong, Sonics and Jet Set Willy's and shove them down your cakeholes. Because as first games go, this my friends, was all kinds of radical. Â Behold!! Â Great music for one thing. The Megadrive was pretty much the first console I can remember playing in the house, and for a while we only had two games for the damned thing. There was this, and Altered Beast. Altered Beast ceased to work after about 6 or 7 goes, but we didn't care as we still had JP and the gang to kill our time with. 'Twas great for multi-player too and kept all the kids entertained at neighborly get togethers while all the parents were crooning elsewhere. After a garage clearout a couple of years ago, me and my brother dug this out of a dark corner of said garage and had a crack for old times sake. It is now neatly preserved in the more hospitable surroundings of...erm, underneath the bed. Better there than the garage though. Â As for the first game I ever bought with my own hard earned (pocket)money, that honour goes to Fifa: Road To World Cup 98 when we got a Playstation for the first time. My first introduction into the world of Fifa and I've been hooked on it ever since. This one wasn't bad at all for it's time, with player and team editing possible, countries AND clubs to play as, the excellent John Motson on commentary, great stadiums, there wasn't much this game didn't have in all fairness. It even boasts a five-a-side indoor arena which often used to produce absolutely ridiculous scorelines.
Paid Members Ron Simmons Posted March 7, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted March 7, 2011 Firstly - maybe you should cut some of the shittier categories? "A game you've played more than 5 times, for example, feels pretty redundant.  Secondly:  Day 02 - Your favourite character   Guybrush Threepwood.  When games try and create a "funny character" I'd say more often than not they go for the wise cracking, "cool" route, and as a result the characters come across as arses. However, Guybrush Threepwood manages to be a witty AND endearing character. LucasArts didn't take the wisecracking cock route, nor did they go for the bumbling oaf. Guybrush is a brilliant creation, and my favorite video game star by a long way.
Glenryck Pilchards
I think mine was Track and Field II for the NES, great button bashing game and no one has been able to beat me on the diving on it. I was beating my tech savvy uncles on it when I was 5 year old. They just could not fathom how I was getting ridiculous remarks. I was shit on all the other disciplines though. Stinky Dad
Nice thread idea. Â My first game would've been one off the old ZX Spectrum 48k addition. Great days. It could've been any from a plethora of games as I had a speccy from about the age of 4 or 5 but one that sticks out in my mind is Jet Set WIlly II. Legendarily fucking impossible! Steve Justice
Day 1 - Kickstart on the Commador 16 (we weren't rich enough to own a Commador 64). It's a motorcross game based on the old BBC TV show. I had a ton of games for that computer but that's the only one I can remember. Back in the days when games were run off cassette tapes.

Like fuck am I going to re-visit this thread every day for the next month...  You best do, motherfucker. I look forward to hearing from your gaming experiences over the course of the next month  Ron Simmons - Yeah I'm down with that idea. If anyone's got any better ideas to replace some of the shitter ones with then I'll edit accordingly, if not then I'll just delete them.  I wasn't planning on starting the second question until tomorrow seeing as though the topic didn't get started until last night, so we'll do a joint 'Your first video game' and 'Your favourite character' today, and then start with Day 3: A game that is underrated soley tomorrow seeing as though Ron Simmons jumped the gun
Paid Members JohnnyChimpo Posted March 7, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted March 7, 2011 Hey SuperCena, was that helicopter game you had Jungle Strike? The first level was you flying around Washington DC saving a load of landmarks and escorting the President to the White House? Â Â The you went on other missions around the globe to stop the terrorist plot; Â That was a great game.
