Paid Members Egg Shen Posted September 29 Author Paid Members Posted September 29 Booking seems ambitious, especially at £160 a standing ticket, but watch thing go sell out in a few hours. This whole ticketing situation is out of control. Quote

Doesn't the stadium have notoriously bad sound? I was at a concert there a couple of weeks ago, I was in the stands and the sound was fine. I've seen the same artist in arena's many times and the sound wasn't as good as it was in arenas. That said, the online consensus afterwards was that the sound in the stands was fine but the sound for those standing was awful - the standing tickets were between £200 and £1k so those fans were understandably very unhappy. So disappointed that Slipknot have chosen Marilyn Manson to support. Quote
Paid Members Monkee Posted September 30 Paid Members Posted September 30 The sound in Wembley for Linkin Park and Spiritbox last year was awful. I was standing and was close to the front and the side. But then I saw Oasis (Cast and Richard Ashcroft) a month later and the sound was incredible from the back of the standing section. I sometimes think it’s a band’s specific set-up rather than the venue. I’ve seen Slipknot a couple of times but I’m not a big enough fan to pay through the nose. I also wouldn’t buy a ticket to this tour because of Marilyn Manson. However, my friend’s already said she’ll put me on the guest list so I’ll see closer to the time. It’s peak gig/festival season so if something else comes up then I’ll decide then. Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted October 1 Members Posted October 1 Enter Shikari are calling it a day at the end of next year, which is gutting. Exit Shikari? A band that has meant a lot to me and my family over the years. I've seen them in front of 20 odd people at the start, to festivals, to tiny thank you shows, acoustic sets, met them at signings, and taken our children to see them as well, who both love them. Me and my ex must've seen them together well over 20 times. I once went to see them at Ally Pally, my ex lost her ticket on the way, she was in tears, and someone in the queue overheard us and gave us his spare. A proper community of fans. One of my favourite ever memories of them was seeing them at Reading in 2007 just after Take To The Skies had come out, taking a mate in to the tent who was more into indie, he lasted 20 seconds of the heaving mosh pit before telling me he couldn't handle it and went back to our tent. I can still picture his face of fear as he got swallowed up in the crowd. Makes me laugh every time. Here is a very awkward me meeting them, looking like a member of the band 😆 Will miss them and hope they all enjoy their "retirement" Quote
Paid Members TheBurningRed Posted October 1 Paid Members Posted October 1 Is that time they played at McCluskies nightclub @SuperBacon? I always remember them doing Banquet and then playing at one of the worst clubs in Kingston Quote

WyattSheepMask Posted Tuesday at 06:28 PM Posted Tuesday at 06:28 PM (edited) Fortress have announced more acts for 2027, as well as announcing the Friday Night ‘costs an extra £70 and is sold separately to the main festival’ show Fortress: First Light Playing F:FL is Terrestrial Hospice (Black Metal featuring Inferno (Behemoth, Azarath) and Skyggen (Gorgoroth, Tortorum), Poland) which is genuinely one of the worst band names that I’ve ever heard, and Watain (Black Metal, Sweden) who are on their final tour and is a UK Exclusive. Main Fortress Festival additions announced today, all of which are UK Exclusives, include: Mare (Black Metal, Norway) Ninkharsag (Black Metal, UK) Silver Knife (Black Metal, Belgium- UK Debut) Bloodbark (Atmospheric Black Metal, rumoured to be from Russia but that’s not confirmed- UK Debut) Sulphur Aeon (Blackened Death Metal, Germany) Örnatorpet (Dungeon Synth, Sweden) Oerheks (Melodic Black Metal, Belgium- UK Debut) Stormkeep (Black Metal, USA) I gave a few acts most recent release a listen to get familiar with them. Bloodbark I really liked Sulphur Aeon were fine but not Earth shattering, a strong maybe depending on where they’re placed on the day. Stormkeep I was already familiar with, and Ninkharsag were decent I’ve bought a ticket as a friend & I have talked about going to it for a couple of years now, but this latest batch of announcements still hasn’t dissuaded me that the promoter didn’t just blow the entire budgeting on getting Emperor Edited Tuesday at 06:35 PM by WyattSheepMask Quote
King Mal the Glorious Posted Tuesday at 06:37 PM Posted Tuesday at 06:37 PM I've been every year so far, it's great. Hoping the Friday doesn't sell out soon as I don't really have £70 to chuck at a gig til pay day. Most importantly, they're finally doing what I've suggested from year 1 and moving/expanding the merch area into another room. No more squeezing through queues in the main entrance! Quote
WyattSheepMask Posted Friday at 08:15 PM Posted Friday at 08:15 PM (edited) In addition to the announcements the other day, Fortress have unveiled the final acts to complete the lineup. Filling out the undercard announcements today were- Ultha (Black Metal, Germany) Perchta (Blackened Folk Metal, Austria) Firtan (Black Metal, Germany) Frostgard (Dungeon Synth, Spain) Blood Countess (Black Metal, UK) Edited Friday at 08:20 PM by WyattSheepMask Quote
Merzbow Posted Saturday at 12:32 AM Posted Saturday at 12:32 AM I'd be so tempted if it wasn't so close to next year's Supersonic Festival, I don't even know the lineup yet but I always go for at least a day. To be fair last year was free because my best mate was playing but I'll have to cough up next if I can't get myself on the lineup somehow... Quote

Browser Brady Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Who are the biggest contemporary Rock band in the world currently? Quote
Merzbow Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Ghost? I can't really think of anyone bigger outside of legacy acts if we're talking more hard rock/metal. Quote
WyattSheepMask Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago (edited) Depends on what your perimeter of ‘Contempory Rock’ is. I know it’s not the be all end all, but if you were to use Spotify Monthly Listeners as a barometer, as @Merzbow mentioned Ghost are big (9.3m), but Måneskin have more than double that (23.1m, which is 4m more than Black Sabbath to give some context). The majority of that id imagine is across mainland Europe (especially in their homeland of Italy) but last time they were over here they were playing the arenas. Bad Omens (6.9m) and Shinedown (8.5m) are both pretty popular, while Bring Me The Horizon are probably the biggest UK act (13.6m), and Sleep Token (5m) have had a big couple of years in terms of growth Edited 14 hours ago by WyattSheepMask Quote

They have 22.4m. Previous Glastonbury headliners as well. Quote
