Land of the Lost

I had to watch this purely because Will Farrell and Danny McBride in it. I really enjoyed it! The two I mentioned were on top form.. and its amazing how Will Farrells subtle humour just doesnt escape him.. no matter what film he's in.

Philadelphia - Just finished watching. Is this really the film everyone raves about so much? It was a good watch, no doubt, but nothing more. To be fair though, it's eluded me for years, so I may have built up some massive expectations, going by how much everyone says what a great movie it is.

I dread the day when I finally get around to seeing Goodfellas, Scarface and all the other movies that are considered classics.

Knowing

Nicolas Cage discovers a list of dates of major disasters predicted 50 years ago.

Good film till the terrible ending.

Avoid!

Zack and Miri make a porno

Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks are two friends living together struggling to pay the bills.

They decide to make a porn film to help them make money.

Decent enough cast but film is just not as funny as it thinks it is.

Seth Rogen is pretty much poor in any film.

Elizabeth Banks is hot!

Far too much of Jason Mewes cock near the end.

Worth a watch.

I watch everything Elizabeth Banks is in (including scrubs!) , I'm becoming midly obsessed with her. I even watched The Uninvited, which is a pile of shit but she's hot in it

Well I can have her on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and you can have her Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

She can have Sunday off.

Watched Popcorn, a brit flick with the gorgeous Jodi Albert and that Jack Ryder from Eastenders. It's set in a cinema, hence the very clever title, and is pretty much a popcorn flick, a rom com with tits and a bit of swearing that takes place amidst drama in the cinema as it turns out one of the staff is a corporate spy. It was alright, I've seen worse. It wasn't massively funny. Ryder is pretty much his Eastenders character, shy and a bit awkward and not capable of doing a lot else besides standing still and looking "cute". He does deliver one terrific line when two of his co-workers are getting it on and he's hiding under a desk. All he says is "Hello" but it's wonderfully timed and cracked me up. Not a film I'd go out of my way to see unless you really fancy Jodi Albert.

Also watched Extras: The Special for the first time since it aired. At the time, I absolutely loved it and i think I loved it more this time. I could go home and watch it again. It's an incredible peice of television that builds beautifully to it's stunning climax. I love the way Andy gets more and more wound up through the show to the point where he chucks his principles in the bin and whores himself before seeing the error of his ways and delivering his perfect monologue. This was, by some distance, the best piece of television this century. IMO, of course.

Rewatched Seies 1-3 of TEACHERS on DVD. Brilliant series, highly recommended to anyone who hasn't seen it before (avoid series 4)

Watched Nick Loves THE FIRM as well this week, great film very much like 'Goodby Charlie Bright' Love's first film. Some good performances all round and Love benefits from not having Danny Dyer around

Lollilove sounds ace. Anyone have a copy they want to swap me? Can only find a Region 1 DVD and a torrent with no seeders.

I'll PM you in a sec Rick; I'll just hunt down where I got the torrent from.

Me also if you please.

I liked Twilight so I gave New Moon a watch and I absolutely hated it. It even wandered into "so bad it's funny" territory a couple of times. I'm still gonna watch the next one with an open mind, but I'm not holding much hope.

Started to rewatch Benidorm after the death of Geoff Hutchings (Mel). This stuff is great. Donald and Jacqueline great the flithiest lines and deliver them great. I love this sitcom. Never fails to make me laugh.

one of the biggest problems with Zack & Miri is the fact that Miri is so fucking hot...they should have cast some ugly, fat piece.

I ain't really complaining though, she's fucking outstanding, but you know what i mean.

Best of the Best 3

It's not good. :(

I had high hopes for this, as I had the impression it was somewhat of a pet project for Phillip Rhee, but it's bland and predictable, Rhee is imitating Bruce Lee a fair bit rather than continuing with the fighting style he established in the first two films, and the bad guys come off as just a bunch of dumb hicks, rather than some Aryan threat.

Low budget martial arts flicks can always be saved by decent choreography (ie: Drive), and BOTB2 was particularly good for it's time, but it's poor here. The problem seems to fall more on the stunt men who are slow, seem to flip bump everything to compensate, and in a couple of occassions look like they're going though things in their head as they go to take on Tommy.

Bonus point for Gina Gershon. Half a point knocked off for not having her naked at some point.

So far, worst of the series.

i watched it this evening...i'll be honest man, i fucking enjoyed it!

i dunno whether it was low expectations or what, but i thought it was an entertaining 90mins of throwaway shit. The thing is, this isn't a Best of The Best film, Phillip Rhee clearly wanted to make an action movie and chucked the BOTB title on there just to sell a few more videos. There's 2 slight references to BOTB 2 and that's it...i suppose it does save them having to try fit a new backstory into the movie though :)

There was some weird shit in there, a couple of little comedy touches seemed out of place (including a ridiculous clown fight), and Rhee can't act for shit, but what the movie did do well was create a group of badguys you just wanted to see get fucked up. The finale was like Commando a one man army type deal with lots of shit blowing up.

I watch a lot of shitty little action movies and ive seen a lot worse than this. Off to watch no. 4!
