Ben Daniels is in that House of Cards remake series on Netflix with Kevin Spacey. He's a lot older then Smith or Tennant which cold be interesting, as I did enjoy Ecclestone's Dr. Also, I'm not sold on a female Doctor.

Well Moff has said he prefers an 'older' Doctor. They wanted one last time but Smith blew them away in his audition.

 

I'm not a fan of this female Doctor idea. You have River song in that role. It seems like change for the sake of change.

 

It'll be an unknown, or a sort of unknown. The only time the papers have got it right was Tennant, but that was incredibly obvious at the time iirc.

I've just watched 'Amys Choice' and I'd definitely be up for Toby Jones as the Doctor. He's brilliant.

In regards to it, I hope they manage to keep it under lock and key until the actual episode just to create speculation and keep people interested and hyped for it. Can you imagine the viewer figures the episode would get just to see the regeneration if it happened, it'd be easily the top rated show of the year.It would be fairly easy to do as well. BBC, Moffat etc must have enough connections and celebrity actor fans of the show that they can bring in 10 or so people sign them under contract to not release any information, have them each film the regeneration scene and then have the real edited copy under lock and key ready for BBC distribution. That way any smart ass reporters seeing someone arrive on set can be easily duped and everyone can sit and discuss the possibilites, pros and cons etc of the likes of Ben Daniels, Eddie Redmayne, Steven Fry, Alan Davies, Rupert Grint, Olivia Coleman etc just to play to every possible outcome.

I have a few friends, in upsettingly modest positions with little knowledge to speak of, who reckon the casting call started ages ago and that the registered interest has been absolutely huge. Its a far, far bigger deal than last time, what with the increase in the global profile of the show. I have nothing juicy in terms of names, though I'm led to believe Richard Coyle has auditioned. If that excites anybody.
