It was only few years ago I was reading a thread on here and realised his name was Moongoose. My version rolls off the tongue better anyway. Moongoose McQueen is a right mouthful. I didn't believe you and googled it. Madness. Always been Mongoose to me. Quote
Paid Members Chris B Posted October 29 Paid Members Posted October 29 Possibly a long-standing point settled on the latest WrestleMe - or possibly one I'm remembering being a 'no, that didn't actually happen' thing, and it wasn't, so it counts in a different way. Bob Holly's finisher being renamed the 'Holly-Caust' did happen on a WWE broadcast - it was just on the Over The Edge '99 show, so hardly anyone has gone back to rewatch it. Quote
The Reverend Posted October 29 Posted October 29 Wasn't there a thing about the Hart Foundation's finisher being called 'The Heart Attack' but it was never referenced on TV as that? Quote

In Bob’s book (which is surprisingly good) he talks about how the name Hollycaust was pitched to him when he started using what became the Alabama Slammer. He talks about how he would never use the Hollycaust name due to sharing a locker room with Kidman and Goldberg etc. Quote

TheScarlettChad Posted October 29 Posted October 29 Did Tazz call it The Alabama Slamma? I could've sworn he did once. Quote

He was talking about later in his career when mentioning this, he may be misremembering when the idea to use that name was pitched to him though. @TheScarlettChad Bob calls it the Alabama Slammer in his book so I just went with what he said. Paid Members Carbomb Posted Thursday at 11:20 PM Paid Members Posted Thursday at 11:20 PM I thought the Hollycaust was his Falcon Arrow finish, and the Alabama Slam was that over-the-shoulders powerbomb thingy? Quote
Joe Blog Posted Friday at 06:38 AM Posted Friday at 06:38 AM Could be that he mixed his finishers up when talking about them. I am absolutely positive that he mentioned Kidman and Goldberg when saying how uncomfortable the name made him feel which only really ties in with the Alabama Slammer finish as he was using the falcon arrow before they arrived. SoloJones Posted Friday at 09:48 AM Posted Friday at 09:48 AM (edited) Off the back of this, I watched a YouTube short of Bob doing the falcon arrow a bunch of times, and one time (as mentioned, at Over The Edge 99) JR says "he calls that the Holly Caust". I'd always assumed that it was a fan-made name or something from a video game, but it definitely didn't last long. They *could* have re-pitched the name to him later on as well, but it's probably him getting his timelines mixed up. Edit - here's the full context which has audio transcript from the book, and the clip https://www.reddit.com/r/Wrasslin/comments/zbqsv2/im_watching_over_the_edge_1999_and_was_reminded/ Edited Friday at 09:51 AM by SoloJones Quote

I’m sure you’re right & it was Holly himself who commentary referred to as ‘The Alabama Slammer’. Quote

Yeah, that was my understanding too. And I've specifically only ever heard commentary say "Slam" rather than "Slammer" which would make it sound less like a wrestling move and more like either a prison or a cocktail. Quote
Paid Members Statto Posted Friday at 11:34 PM Paid Members Posted Friday at 11:34 PM The Alabama Slammer is indeed a cocktail (Southern Comfort, amaretto, sloe gin, orange juice). It's only the 2nd best cocktail to come out of the University of Alabama though, the Yellow Hammer clears (as the kids say). #RollTide My buddy Beau works for the Alabama Dept of Corrections and my received wisdom is those Alabama slammers ain't nice. And yes, Bobcore's finish was the Alabama Slam. Quote
