Lucy Beaumont and Sue Perkins were crap, and Sam Campell is only OK in small dosages for me. I can also recommend the latest season of Taskmaster Australia. Five really solid contestants. Some of the humour and references go over my head, but its definitely worth a watch. Brett is the pick of the bunch. Crazy guy! Quote

Can't disagree more. I think it's one of the best. Lucy Beaumont and Sam Campbell were fantastic value, I thought and Julian Clary was great as the weary older contestant. Perkins I thought was fine, and I really liked Susan Wokoma. Quote

And they had to get 10 episodes of material from him as well. I'll certainly benefit from gritting my teeth through series 5, so I look forward to being rewarded in Series 9. I've not watched anymore of series 8, I'm constantly building up the courage to see it through. Quote

Like @gmoney I couldn’t disagree more - that’s my favourite ever cast and the Clary/Campbell/Beaumont dynamic was absolutely brilliant. Humour is subjective though, and I’d imagine each season will have someone out there who considers it their favourite. Quote

Joe has grown on me a little, just because he sincerely has no idea what's going on. Him stumbling into his first team task with an awkward "Oh...hello...am I supposed to be here?" kind of energy was something to dig into. Paul as well is ticking some boxes. Its still very, very up-and-down though, the hosts are micro analysing everything just to get the slightest drop of a chuckle. The ups are fine, and the downs are some of the lowest. Talking of lows, Iain is still a gobshite. Hes just awfully tryhard and brash but without the likability. I've not looked into him or his hobbies, but he comes across as a WRESTLING fan, and I say that with offense and malice intended. I imagine he's got a PROGRESS scarf and a few NXT:UK t-shirts in his wardrobe, he has a Jey Uso bumper sticker, he loves the RAW after 'Mania, etc. Edited July 10 by Accident Prone Quote

Dai Posted September 4 Posted September 4 The new series is off to a very good start. That team one with the bed was very odd though. No loopholes, no outside the box way of doing it, just a completely straight forward way of having to do it. Dont get many tasks where it feels that basic. Chloe Petts has set a Taskmaster record in our house, with the quickest time to go from "Who?", to "Shes great, I'd go and see them live". Think it happened within the first 10 minutes, with just one task and the studio banter to go with it. Usually it takes a good few weeks to get to that stage when they are not well known to us, but they smashed the first impression better than anyone ever has I think. Ayoade just putting a normal egg in the bowl in his first task, not even trying to do anything half decent, combined with his pretty bad song, doesn't give me great hope for him this season. Can see Matt Lucas being a Paul Sinha level of contestant too, with plenty of confusion and literal attempts at every task. Quote
