Enjoy the show tonight everyone. I am going to go on main AEW thread and social Media black out until the dreaded backlog is cleared. Won't be long now. Also for people who don't bother clicking the ROH thread: Watch Bandido vs Takeshita it was bloody brilliant. Quote

Hopefully it’s nothing long-lasting, I’d been enjoying him as TNT Champion. It’s a very odd choice of substitute match, though. Garcia I understand, but Rhodes and Guevara feel like names drawn out of a hat. Texans. Not likely to have been involved in the Casino Gauntlet. Either one could be the fall guy. Sammy will think of some daft spot to be memorable and a multi-time TNT champion. While Dustin can play the old gunslinger. Quote

Wouldn’t surprise me if that cunt Sammy shows up in the gauntlet. I suppose we can be thankful they didn’t stick the Von Erichs in instead. Quote
Tim Healys Chutney Spoon Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 Personally Id have just left it as Garcia v Fletcher for the vacant title. Or if you must make it a multiman match, I'd chuck in someone Brody King. Quote

Could be how the show was mic'd up, but looking at the crowd I think they're just quiet which is a real shame. AEW crowds are usually very loud. Quote
Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted July 13, 2025 Paid Members Posted July 13, 2025 I absolutely loved that. Bit long, but they got all the results spot on. Quote
Paid Members TheBurningRed Posted July 13, 2025 Paid Members Posted July 13, 2025 (edited) So glad this was on at a reasonable time. I’ve only been keeping up with AEW by reading the results and not watched since the last PPV Sons of Texas and the Von Erichs vs Shane Taylor Promotions A match that happened, nothing memorable. The face team consists of two bland wrestling brothers and one of the most unlikeable babyfaces in Sammy Guevara. Zoned out Big Boom AJ, Kyle O’Reilly, Tomohiro Ishii and Hologram vs Hechichero, Lance Archer, Rocky Romero and Trent Beretta Hear me out, AJ and Ishii for the G1 Tag League. That AJ gets it. Good timing, hell of a clothesline and powerbomb, cuts a promo and could shill merch like Don West. A perfectly fine match, Big Justice does a great spear. I wonder of Big Justice been pushed over will be used in the court case that Moxley is getting sued for. See, a kid got pushed over and he’s okay FTR vs The Outrunners Sloppy. Boring. Didn’t enjoy it one bit. The Opps vs Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta and Gabe Kidd - Trios Titles Another perfectly fine match. The chop exchange with Shibata and Kidd was lame. We must stop that spot. Or lessen its usage at least. Could’ve just had this on tv. Mens Casino Gauntlet Far, far too long for my liking. 35. Minutes. Not as good as previous gauntlets. I was expecting Nigel to get up from the desk and partake again. Juice Robinson returned clean shaven, looking jacked (and a bit like Bo Dallas). A good way to ease Ibushi back in I suppose but also a bit of a waste. Takeshita is the man. I hope he wins the G1. MJF though? Fuck off. Dustin Rhodes vs Kyle Fletcher vs Daniel Garcia vs Sammy Guevara - Vacant TNT Title Announced on the pre show that Cole was not medically cleared and the match was now a four way. Very concerning about Cole, they said health issue and not injury. Strong and O’Reilly looked devastated. I really hope it’s nothing too serious. I don’t think I was alone in expecting Fletcher to win. So I was pleasantly surprised when Dustin got the title. The new belt collector. Those nephews of his are spits of him and Cody. Get working out lads, you can’t be worse than the Von Erichs. Another perfectly fine match that would’ve been good for tv. Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay vs Young Bucks If the Bucks win, Swerve and Ospreay can’t compete for the world title for a year. If they lose, they’re no longer EVPs. Jojo Offerman sang Ain’t Nobody for Swerves entrance which was pretty cool. This match was everything you’d expect it to be. It was the best match of the night at this point, but far too many false finishes. I don’t mind all that in the PWG setting, but it is too much in AEW. I thought the Bucks would win as I expected Ospreay to earn his shot for the world title next year at Wembley, so it was a bit of a surprise (to me at least) Womens Casino Gauntlet Preferred this to the mens. Still too long. Julia Hart has my favourite entrance music currently. A debut for Syrui, someone who’s name I’ve seen but never seem before. Good showing for her, Thekla, Bayne and eventual winner Athena. I thought Deonna Purrazzo might show up. They are wasting her. The Hurt Syndicate vs Christian Cage and Nick Wayne vs Mike Bailey and Kevin Knight Really fun match. Shelton and Lashley looked like beasts. Great German from Shelton to Bailey, launching him over the ropes. I didn’t realise Kip Sabian looked like that now. I thought Pillman Jr was back. Everyone looked good, it set up a few different feuds. Post match and The Patriarchy turn Christian with FTR. Wayne was about to conchairto Christian when Edge’s music hit. One of my pet peeves is when wrestlers stop what they are doing because music hits. If I was Nick Wayne, after the initial surprise, I would’ve simply smashed Christians head and legged it. The double spear to FTR? Big Justice will show you how to do it, Cope. “Go… find yourself”. It served its purpose but Adam Copeland is one of the cringiest cunts to have been in the biz. Toni Storm vs Mercedes Mone - AEW Womens Championship They threatened us with Mercedes picking up a 7th belt. I’m no fan of hers and last year at All In, I stood in the foyer for most of her match with Britt Baker (That’s more of a Britt problem). But Toni Storm is a draw for me. But, it was a decent match, enjoyed the finish, really enjoyed the result mostly. Bring on Storm vs Athena. Have to wonder who’s next for Mercedes and will dethrone her. Kazuchika Okada vs Kenny Omega - Winner Take All/Unified Championship Match Tony, fuck off with the belts now. Unifying the Continental and International championship for the new Unified belt. Fuck me. This is essentially for what is Gunthers belt in WWE. Okada with dark hair. Back to his TNA Xplosion days. Loved their trilogy 8 years ago. They could never live up to those glory days, but this was a great match. Probably Okadas best showing since joining AEW? Definitely the best match of his I’ve seen in a long while. Clearly motivated to face Omega. Would be up for another match between them. Hangman Adam Page vs Jon Moxley - Texas Death Match for the AEW World Championship Texas Death Matches are the Hangman Page trademark. Page won the last time he and Moxley fought in this match at Revolution 2023. Great intro for Page before his old music hit to a big pop. Actually, this was the best the crowd was all night. Electric reactions. A beautifully, violent ending to Moxs reign. I know this match won’t be for everyone, but I loved it. I felt like a young fan again. Who wasn’t jaded with a lot of things pro wrestling has to offer these days. I got so caught up, more than I have done in years. I think the last time I felt like this was when Bryan won the world title at Mania. When Hangman got back up after the nail bed spot, I started slapping my arm chair in celebration. I clapped at Swerve throwing him the chain. I smiled at Swerve looking on proudly when Hangman won. I thought Mox did some of his best selling in a long time at the finish. Great to see Danielson and Darby back. Hangman is the greatest wrestler AEW has ever had. No-one has gripped their audience like he has. What a man. An underwhelming undercard, but this match made up for it. From pre show start until going off air, just under 8 hours long. Bloody hell, Tone. Edited July 14, 2025 by TheBurningRed Quote
Tennessee Moltisanti Posted July 13, 2025 Posted July 13, 2025 Show kicked into a different gear after the Bucks Vs Swerve & Ospreay. Brilliant match, and set the pace for the rest of the show which I loved. Top 3 matches were outstanding in their own ways, and I was punching the air like a madman when Hangman got the win. Unbelievable stuff. Quote
Tim Healys Chutney Spoon Posted July 13, 2025 Posted July 13, 2025 Loved that show. Right ending and just when you thought 'there's noone left' suddenly Prince Nana pops up from under the timekeepers table and has handcuffed Shafir! Still thought they could have done a bit more with Darby though, but Danielson took the plaudits. Funniest moment for us all night - Young Bucks entrance. Pair of absolute pricks! But the best pricks in the business and pull off that image perfectly. Adam Cole looked absolutely broken in the ring and if this is the end for him, it was an honest way to go out. I hope he's getting the right treatment from AEW and medical gelp though as it sounds more serious than a repeat concussion or similar. Definitely the night of returns that I remember!
