As previously mentioned I don't want to turn this into an Alex Shane thread, but I'm sure his rambling monthly columns (I think sometimes about 6 pages worth) were a big reason Fighting Spirit went under. I know someone who had a meeting with Shane around this time, and apparently Alex had given up solid food and was just drinking some sort of weird pureed food shake (which allegedly kept banging on about) like some sort of odd adult baby.

I trained briefly with Stevie Knight in 2005 and he used to call Alex Shane 'Mavis'. I never did find out why. 

IIRC, in his very early days as a trainee some people were dicking about trying throwing fireballs with flash paper and he got flustered.

I don't think he was writing the columns much longer (if at all) after I started in 2011 and the magazine closed in 2019.

There was another reincarnation of Hammerlock around 2010–2011. I think someone else co-opted the name but can’t remember who, as I did a website for that particular iteration. I’m guessing it had nothing to do with the original NWA Hammerlock and was “Hammerlock” in name only, though.

Think I remember something called "Fight Nation", but I've got a feeling that was an NWA franchise. Might have misremembered though.

No. That was a Billy Wood promotion (he had a number, including buying the “IPW:UK” name at one point).

I guess he has retired. His last 3 matches on Cagematch are a battle royal in 2011 at the Andre Baker Memorial Show, a tag match with Steve Corino against Tom Howard and Samoa Joe for Zero-One in Japan in 2002 and a 4 corners iron man match for PWF in Huntigdon Valley Pennsylvania against Dylan Night, Steve Corino and Shinya Hashimoto in 2001.

You know Alex is 100% on here under a username reading all this. 
 

Only had a few run ins with Alex but if you were under his spell he could get you to do anything. 
 

Still to this day I have no idea who he got to pay for this but about 2 weeks before Universal Uproar we got booked to bring a couple of matches, ring, entrance rig and PA to that leisure centre in Bolton the FWA ran. Bagga filmed and produced the footage and Andy Quildan did comms for it so I’m not sure if it was something todo with the FWA at the time or was badged as one of their shows. 
 

It drew maybe 20’people and had Homicide, D Lo Brown & Colt Cabana on it along with a couple of FWA guys. The rest of the card was filled up with Futureshock guys and us lot from SLAM/BRAWL. 
 

 I can only think he needed something for those three todo the night before the Coventry show even if it meant them wrestling in front of chairs in the north west.

In hindsight he was taking a massive risk having the ring for Universal Uproar and 3 imports miles away the night before when it was sat comfortably in a lock up 30 minutes from Coventry. I think one of the Manchester Massive had to take the imports out in Manchester afterwards on Alex’s request. 
 

The next day after the ring got set up Kobashi walked out to I assume do his warm up. He took one look at the knackered ropes shook his head and walked back to the locker room. A few minutes later Alex came frantically running out and asked for someone to goto Wilkos / Homebase etc and buy as much electrical tape as they could and have the ropes re taped.

If I recall correctly, Alex had some serious beef with a North West Promoter and Talent. It was pretty nasty, I understand. I'm sure someone will have more information.

Isn't that where FutureShock came from? That he had beef with the at the time owner of GPW and set up FutureShock as a competing training school to undercut his business?
