The Reverend Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 New trailer for the Mildred Burke film 'Queen of the Ring' coming in 2025. Looks like it may be a decent watch. With The Wrestler, The Iron Claw and now this, it seems there's been some good films about our favourite sport. Anyone got any wishes for future flicks? I'd love to see a territory based film - maybe a film based on the Funks or Harley Race. Or a gritty flick looking at the 60's/70's UK scene. Quote
wordsfromlee Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 On the plus side it stars Toni Storm, Walter Goggins and Martin Kove from Karate Kid. On the downside it also has Britt Baker in it. Quote
Harry Wiseau Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 Cornette seems to be in it and JR has something to do with it in an executive producer role, which is a very loose term but you'd hope with that pair involved it'll be somewhat faithful to the truth. Hopefully it won't be as bleak as Iron Claw Quote

Harry Wiseau Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 I only really know the name and not much about her at all really, so we're on for another bleak one then, jolly good. Quote
RIDDUM_N_STYLE Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 Wait is that the actress who played Felicity on Arrow in the lead role? Quote

Hopefully it won't be as bleak as Iron Claw It's based on of the best written and researched wrestling autobiographies, so they've got the source material to make it accurate. The real story is pretty compelling, including having what was probably the last genuine pro wrestling shoot (no planned finish and competitive) for forty-something years. Quote

Paid Members mim731 Posted March 12 Paid Members Posted March 12 Do we know if this is getting a UK cinema release? Or is ot going to be a case of waiting for streaming? Quote
Merzbow Posted March 12 Posted March 12 I can't see anything about a UK release, the US cinema release itself seems to be very limited. This surprisingly lengthy Telegraph article about it and Mildred Burke says no date has been announced. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/films/0/queen-of-the-ring-true-story-mildred-burke-wrestling/ Quote

DavidB6937 Posted Thursday at 02:49 PM Posted Thursday at 02:49 PM Well if Britt is in it, you better watch it quickly because the quality will deteriorate rapidly. Quote
