2025 predictions

After an astoundingly bad hit/miss ratio  for 2024 predictions, I thought I’d take another stab at this. What do you think will happen in 2025?

* AEW won’t main event a PPV with a women’s match for the first time (I predicted the opposite and was wrong last year, here’s hoping the same happens this year)

* There will be no major jumps from AEW to WWE, although Fenix and Starks will end up there (I’m not counting these as major, though)

* AEW will sign one big name WWE wrestler, likely a veteran looking for a final payday

* Jon Moxley vs Bryan Danielson will headline All In

* Cody Rhodes vs John Cena and CM Punk vs Roman Reigns will be the two headline matches at Wrestlemania

* Sami Zayn won’t win a World title, but the road to that happening in 2026 will be set, in quite a clear way

* John Cena’s final match will be against Braun Breakker - and his final run will include matches against CM Punk, Randy Orton and Roman Reigns

* WWE title holders will include John Cena and Braun Breakker, Gunther will be the only World Heavyweight title holder in 2025.

* Jon Moxley will hold the AEW World title for most of 2025, before dropping the belt to Darby Allin.

Cody vs Rock goes on last at Mania 41.

John Cena does a job for Gunther.

Rhea finally wrestles Dom one on one and beats him.

Lynch comes back and eventually works a program with Tiff to give her the rub.

Someone at NXT copies CM Punk’s move set and in anger burns the PC to the ground.

AEW Forbidden Door gets announced for the o2 4 weeks before the event and still manages to sell out.

Max announces 2m people watch the first AEW Dynamite simulcast. Netflix announces 20m watch the first Raw and ratings are never discussed again (one can dream). 
 

A big WWE star throws a tantrum and wants to quit and spends the rest of the year on the sidelines. 
 

Hook, Thunder Rosa and Britt Baker leave AEW. 
 

Death Rider angle ends before the end of 2025. 
 

AEW get some creative changes and weekly TV improves, but the additional PPV’s suffer as a result.

Big Boom AJ gets the TNT title, Jarrett and Anna Jay win the Owen. Ospreay fails to become the World Champion.

John Moxley goes back to WWE (sorry Dev) and we get a SHIELD reunion.

CM Punk continues to live rent free in everyone's heads. 

Seth Rollins wins the Rumble (sorry Dev)

I expect Cody to drop the belt at mania so he had a full year run with it which will go down as disappointing but satisfying.

Aew will significantly decrease including loss of top talent.

Cm punk will get his wish finally and main event one night of mania before calling it a day towards the end of the year.

Gcw will either bounce back and get bigger after a tedious year this year or subsequently sink further before closing up. Either or

I will give my predictions the same consideration as last years.

Dave Meltzer will award 9 stars to a match. 

Finn Balor will win the Royal Rumble by last ousting Seth Rollins (Sorry Dev)

H³ will go 4 consecutive weeks without appearing on a show. 

Adam Cole will finally work out how to fake tan properly

The Rock will be the first person to say an unbleeped fuck on Netflix.

He hasn't been injured in his last three or four matches. Can we stop this narrative?

-Punk gets injured and misses Mania (again)

-Cody will end 2025 with a heel turn looming over him in 2026

-Cenas final match will be about 10 mins long

-Flair (heel) and Ripley (face) will be the big women's feud

-They will try and make Tiffany a face champion and it will bomb

-Ospreay will win AEW World title

-Britt Baker will retire from wrestling

-Jade Cargill will leave WWE under a cloud

-When WWE sign Starks they will act likes he's the second coming or something

-Gunther will turn face

-Matt Cardona will return to WWE
