One of the (many) great things about Ron Wright in SMW is that when he was playing the doddery old man gimmick in a wheelchair clutching at his heart and with a cosy blanket over his legs, he was actually only in his early 50s.

I think Sherri was legitimately completely shitfaced during this.
Was the pay off that Madusa was meant to be screwing Col Parker behind Sherri's back? It seemed like that it what was being implied in this.
I know Madusa and Col Parker ended up having a few matches but I don't remember it ever being made clear what the pay-off was.

Really loved the Austin/Parker combo actually. Plus, go to 23:02 here to see Colonel Parker preparing to face Flyin' Brian with Steve Austin in Parker's corner, dressed as the Colonel and doing a ridiculous impression of him. Brilliant pair of goofy pricks. Mean Gene clearly loves Colonel Parker, he can barely hide his delight at him.

Bunkhouse Buck has become someone I appreciate so much more than I did at the time too.

The best part of the Ron Wright Nazi flag bit is, beyond Gordon's weak protestations, the show was sponsored by Mello Yello and they had a pack on the desk that Ron moves aside for the flag and then puts back on top to hold it in place. Bet they LOVED that product placement(!).

I can’t remember the conclusion but at some point after the “wedding” he was co-managing Harlem Heat but then they fired him and he then became a French legionnaire.

He had a match v Madusa at Uncensored 1996. It was as a result of the wedding but I cant remember why.

Wasn't it something daft like they were both promised money or gifts etc something from him and he pissed it away on the craps tables. That wedding is wonderful silly bollocks but the angle seemed to go on for years but was probably a few months.

Nothing new, but this is the absolute bollocks. It's hard watching Ed back sometimes as he was looking pretty huge even in 97, and must have been on the juice big time.

I think he was on the gas from pretty much the start of his career, as the Guerreros were naturally smaller and not tremendously muscular. He definitely got more into it in '97. I think that, combined with fanatical diet and exercise, contributed to him getting so ridiculously cut around that time. 

As for your second point, it's pretty much my favourite combination of wrestlers ever (the HH '97 match is my all-time favourite). Eddie is such a good base and is so vicious and crisp with his offense, while Rey is so good at fighting from underneath and hitting spectacular comebacks.

I really liked the WWE matches they had together, too, but they were on another level during this era of WCW.

And this is where I must differ from some of my fellow Vaulters. I’ve tried with Rey v Eddie at Havoc 97 a few times and it’s obviously not bad but just doesn’t do anything for me. Same as the Eddie vs Dean Malenko matches from ECW, they are the templates for the super workratey style which has become the predominant style of today.

Oh shit, this is me!

Halloween Havoc might be the classic match that just doesn't do anything for me. It's like watching a comedy where you know on an intellectual level the jokes are brilliantly written, but you're not laughing. I'm numb to the thing. 

Just trying to think of an 'average' match from the same time period that's subjectively better to me, I'd rather watch the Michaels/Taker no DQ finish at Ground Zero because there's a sort of weighty atmosphere and drama to the whole presentation of it.
