Build up, positional play and high pressing - all hallmarks of the Ajax team. That high pressing that inspired Sacchi's Milan and numerous other coaches. I don't want to speak for him, but I'm sure Dev isn't saying that style of play didn't exist before, but that it was Pep that influenced it being implemented worldwide, which absolutely was not done before by Cruyff or anyone else. Even the teams in my 12yo's Saturday league try and play out from the back ffs. You could also argue that Pep is indirectly responsible for football being less "fun" and more robotic as well, and individual skill and flair of his players being stripped away to fit the system. I don't quite buy that but can see elements of it being true. I love Pep. He's an absolute nut job as well, which helps. Imagine being out on the piss with him. Quote

No shots, you all have to drink at the same time and that there is no downing your pint, just lots of little sips. Pep's night out would be rubbish. Paid Members air_raid Posted May 31, 2025 Paid Members Posted May 31, 2025 Big congratulations to PSG for qualifying for the 25/26 European Super Cup. They will face Tottenham Hotspur who already qualified over a week ago. Quote
Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted May 31, 2025 Paid Members Posted May 31, 2025 PSG tore Inter a new arse in that game. 5-0 didn't flatter them. They might get 10 against Spurs in the Super Cup. Quote
Fog Dude Posted May 31, 2025 Posted May 31, 2025 Second team in 24 months to be added to the list of clubs to do a proper treble, both times due to an Arabian oil-funded injection. Just of cash, I mean. Obviously. The new format tells us that PSG were only the 15th best team in the single big group, but they got better as the knockout stage went on. Mainly by never having very far to travel. Quote

Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted June 1, 2025 Paid Members Posted June 1, 2025 Nice to see that the French celebrated in a calm and measured way after PSG won. 2 dead, 129 injured, 559 arrests and they are still going ahead with the victory parade this afternoon. Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted June 1, 2025 Members Posted June 1, 2025 Probably nothing to do with the football, but a reaction to the new outdoor smoking ban. Quote

Members SuperBacon Posted June 6, 2025 Members Posted June 6, 2025 I absolutely despise this club I really do (whoever said I have a parasocial relationship with them was right) What is the fucking point of anything? To Dare Is To Do? The game is about glory? Why don't you FUCK OFF YOU BALD CUNT LEVY. "But the league form!!!" Irrelevant. A complete anomaly which was down to huge contributing factors. He won our first European trophy in 41 years! Are you fucking mad??? This is a massive mistake. Whole dressing room behind him, united in backing him, won a major trophy with him, so you now have disrupted all that, a new manager is going to have to go some to bring them all together, you have a fanbase who need convincing quickly and someone on a hiding to nothing. Is this another another another another ANOTHER rebuild is it? I hate it. Cheers Ange. A proper winner who I have no doubt will go somewhere and win again. We enjoyed our lunch. Quote
Paid Members air_raid Posted June 6, 2025 Paid Members Posted June 6, 2025 The cunt sacked Redknapp for coming 4th, thus meeting no doubt one of his KPI, because Chelsea happened to win the Champions League from 6th which was outside his control. Apparently the target was "get in the Champions League" rather than "get in the top four" so the circumstances don't matter. OK. Now, the cunt has sacked Postecoglou for delivering a trophy AND Champions League football. So apparently meeting those targets aren't enough, the circumstances do matter. No giving him chance to recruit and catch a few decent signings based on that Champions League lure? Even Ramos got 8 games. Levy out. Quote
