Sorry lads, bit of an overreaction the other night. Thanks to MVP RULZ for being so eagle-eyed (or should that be Owl-eyed?) Glad someone is paying attention! Sadly I can't write off those mistakes as 'haha, just testing'.

When it comes to the D2D, I usually check that as soon as it comes in. With the new routine this season which I hadn't settled into yet, I ended up trying to calculate it at the same time as all the other scores and got myself momentarily mixed up.

As for the 'wildcard' thing, well, I actually invented that so there's less of an excuse. It's never chosen until all the results are in, else it'd give me even more of an unfair advantage. In fairness the randomiser rarely throws up the first or last fixture as the selected one. I followed the score of that Arsenal game before I knew it'd be the wildcard, then watched the highlights and even had the "analysis" on (was Danny Murphy so I use the term loosely) in the background as I pottered about the kitchen on Saturday night.

The following day I was chatting to my Dad and suddenly talking as if it had been an Arsenal win (they're not his team, but they were his dad's side and we haven't scattered his ashes yet) and he didn't correct me, then it just spiralled from there. I love forward planning each week and season, but I don't enjoy double checking past scores and wrongly assumed I'd remembered the outcome correctly.

Unless I'm going doolally then it shouldn't happen again. Anyhow, my picks for the weekend:

Premier League

Brentford 3-1 Bournemouth
Burnley 0-2 Spurs
Chelsea 2-1 Nottingham Forest
Liverpool 2-0 Aston Villa
Arsenal 3-0 Manchester United w/ultimo

Scottish Premiership
Rangers 1-0 Celtic
Aberdeen 0-0 Hibernian
Hearts 1-2 Motherwell

La Liga
Atlético Madrid 2-2 Sevilla
Osasuna 0-3 Barcelona

The results went into the first post on Monday night, and the table has since been updated with the FPL Cup draw on the right-hand side if you want to check that out. I was only able to confirm that because I received the tenth and final PM needed for D2Ds last night, so sign-ups are now declared closed. Anyway, bit of a low-scoring week, not helped by the rain in Spain causing our first postponement of the season. The rule whenever that happens is that guesses will only count if the match is completed the following midweek. Clearly, since it's early doors and there's about to be an international break, that won't be the case here, so all picks for the game at the Wanda Metropolitano are null and void.

The other Spanish fixture ended up as the randomly selected 'wildcard' one. Everybody knew Barcelona would win against a team who'd played (and, disappointingly, lost) in Europe a few nights prior, but nobody thought it'd end 2-1, so the entire field gets an extra point each. Will be get a wildcard match that isn't either a dud or a full house anytime soon? Will the randomiser cough up a number other than #1 or #10??

Without the bonuses, the average haul would still only have been 5 points from a possible 27. Top scorer would've been Pete who moves further clear of joint worst performer seph. He was the only person other than ultimo to get an exact scoreline at all. The leader sneakily bet against his own side (which is within the rules of D2D even if it's not exactly in keeping with its spirit). With his Man Utd fan hat on, he probably attributes the win to VARsenal but in fairness, the Gunners were on top according to pretty much every statistic. Either way, it certainly helped him to open up a healthy 11-point advantage.

Elsewhere, victories for Spurs and Liverpool were generally good for one-pointers. Picks for the score draw at Brentford and the Old Firm derby turned into more of a mixed bag of guesses, whilst a home reverse for Chelsea and the other two Scottish outcomes caught most participants cold.

An all-European, mostly non-club card will be up at the top of the thread in just a tick.
