I still love it and I really loved the finale this time, I think it wraps everything up nicely.

Reached the end again, and the more I think about it, I think The Office finale is maybe my favourite out of any show I love.

I've seen people say it overdoes it with the sentimentality and I completely disagree. I feel like it nails everything I want from a finale, and I think what we tend to forget is that it's a massive deal for the actors too.

The scene where they ask Dwight whether he got on with his coworkers, and he reels off how they've been intrinsically linked to his life; when he says "Yes you could say I got on with my subordinates" that is Rainn Wilson breaking through, you can definitely see it.

Love it.

One of the cooler things I've learned about the series is that apparently, in the episode where they have a bunch of people applying for the job of manager, Jim Carrey showed up to film his scenes that day and spent the entire time in the character of the Finger Lakes guy.

He just acted odd on set all day, and whenever anyone spoke to him, he kept insisting that he had to make this quick as his family is in the Finger Lakes, and he's supposed to be on vacation.

Some proper surreal stuff.

Sometimes in The Office, they make places sound like it's just down the road from Scranton. So on this rewatch, I've been looking up the driving distances to places mentioned and featured.

Schrute Farms (37 mins)
New York (Corporate) (2 hrs 11 mins)
Stamford (Jim's transfer) (2 hrs 25 mins)
Utica (They raid the branch) (2 hrs 46 mins)
Nashua (Holly's transfer) (4 hrs 54 mins)
Youngstown, Ohio (Where Jim and Pam were going to get married) (5 hrs 13 mins)
Niagara Falls (Where Jim and Pam got married) (4 hrs 26 mins)
Philadelphia (Athlead/Athleap) (2 hrs 9 mins)
Gettysburg (office trip) (2 hrs 39 mins)
Tallahassee (Sabre Pyramid launch) (17 hours)

Yes I'm single.

17 hours isn't!!

I'll be honest, I think they flew to Tallahassee, but I wanted to keep it driving distances and not mess about with other modes of transport :)

Also in the show they say that Scranton to Nashua is 8 hours, which is why Holly and Michael didn't think it could work. It's half that distance so they could've in my opinion.

As a huge fan of the original who has tried a couple of times to watch the US version, I still feel as though I’m missing out from the hype this show gets.

How far did you get with it? It definitely takes a little while to settle in completely (same with Parks and Rec) but 2/3/4 are really great. I'd say if you made it through S2 and still didn't like it then you probably never will.

Tbh, only the first episode which I know is crap of me, but it felt it was a word-for-word a copy of the original but without the comedy.

First season bascially is. I tend to always rewatch from the second season anyway. It’s hilarious from the get go.

Yeah agreed. First season pretty poor. It's been too long since I watched it though to be able to recommend starting from season 2 as I can't remember if you'll miss something essential by doing that as a first time viewer. I can't imagine you will though, if you're familiar with the plot from the UK version.
