Vamp
There's a distinct lack of "oh shit, I want to see that" singles matches for me but I realise that's probably what MJF/Cole and Jericho/Ospreay are for other people. I dunno, I guess it's the lack of Omega or Moxley single matches.

There's already too much clutter on the card with multiple mult-man matches. 8 matches so far. Joe and Punk to be made official. They'll put on a random pre-show women's match as i'm can see TBS saved for All Out. If they're squeezing another 10 minutes in somewhere i'd rather it be a more straight forward singles. Do the Casino Battle Royale to pad out All Out and create a challenger for Grand Slam.

All muiltiman tags when we want 1 on 1s that matter

The World and Tag Team title matches are both big matches, Jericho vs Ospreay is a big match (that, admittedly, I don't care for) and, other than that, I'm good with seeing a bit of chaos. That’s fine if you prefer a megamix, and not a properly played greatest hits that showcase the best things of AEW. Having the likes of omega, hangman etc in a six man is a lesser experience than seeing them in a heated single, isn’t that the aew you want to experience live?
Merzbow
It's Kenny, Hangman and Ibushi who can easily have a 5+ snowflake trios match if on form. I'm good with that.
d-d-d-dAz
I do see both sides, but the only criteria I really wanted them to meet was ‘of consequence’, and all the matches so far relate to stuff that actually impact the regular television so they get thumbs up from me. Bay bay.

I'm up for Ibushi getting a second chance too. We'll get some Takeshita storyline stuff, and Bullet Club Gold have been on serious form recently. I'm really down for this match.

Can we go back in time and have months worth of build to get to that point. Omega v. Takeshita has barely been touched on as a feud. To me that's just a match for the sake of a match. No different than the Trios.
Paid Members Hannibal Scorch Posted August 17, 2023 Author Paid Members Share Posted August 17, 2023 All this thread is demonstrating was AEW couldn't put on the show that pleases everyone. I was hyped before, but after last night I was elated with the new matches and think the card is going to be an absolute banger.

I'm really down for this match. Part of the problem, for me at least, is that this match seems to be nothing more than build-up to the "main" match; that being Omega vs. Takeshita. Given their history, more could have been made of Omega and Hangman teaming as a tag team again - yes Hangman has reunited with The Elite, but as far as I can think, the Omega/Page tag team hasn't existed as a unit since their title reign. If they were going to do something like this, they'd have been better off building towards Hangman/Omega vs. White/Juice; with the looming threat of Takeshita in the background. There's so much story to tap into there that could have made it feel like a bigger deal than this; which, to me, feels like something we could get on Dynamite or Collision. I do wonder if the odd build to this is a product of a man who has too much on his plate, with Khan delaying thinking about what's next until what's before it is out of the way. 1 minute ago, Hannibal Scorch said: All this thread is demonstrating was AEW couldn't put on the show that pleases everyone. I can't say I agree. If there were more in the way of compelling singles matches, I don't think we'd be having this conversation. The ingredients are there to have made that a reality; and they could have ticked the "see all your favourites" box with a Casino Battle Royal on the pre-show, or something.
