Tony Ferguson vs. Dillon Danis

Pfft, yeh, right. Even with Ferguson just right there for the taking as he is these days, it's still not gonna happen. Dillon Danis is a grifter, not a fighter.

Gonna go right ahead and say it, with all seriousness, barring Jones vs Aspinall (which isn’t gonna happen), there isn’t a Heavyweight fight the UFC could make right now that I’d be looking forward to more than this bastard…

Feel Lewis McCrillan caught some attention last year in the PFL, he's got a co-main event on the Paul Hughes headlined show in May.

Peña/Harrison has to happen, though - she shouldn't have that belt, and the sooner it's off that low-rent-a-mouth, the better.

Oh you know I wholeheartedly agree. I just find it hilarious how underwhelming Dana’s ‘big announcements’ are these days. It doesn’t help that he announces beforehand that he’s gonna be making an announcement. So the fools who never learn get all excited and start making all these wild speculations. Yesterday I saw people tweeting that it had to be Jones vs Aspinall or Makhachev vs Topuria. And then we just get a lifeless Merab vs O’Malley 2 which nobody asked for and a Julianna Pena title fight. Literally the only thing he announced that I liked was Garry vs Prates.

But yeah, hopefully Harrison absolutely obliterates Pena and puts a permanent end to the ridiculousness of her swanning about with a belt again.

Oban Elliott has been a bit of a breakout star in the UFC, he's got backing of some big MMA personalities, he's appearing on WWE TV, he's cutting promos all over the gaff, talk of a potential Masvidal fight. All proper organic buzz. Where does he end up?

The fucking Apex, that's where he ends up.

Enough of this shit.

Yeah weird one that. And speaking of strange choices by the UFC, Horiguchi’s return opponent confirmed…

I don’t like it. It’s in a similar vein to the way they’ve been handling Aldo since his return for me. Just don’t get the point of this at all. If anything, I’d have just thrown Horiguchi straight into a title fight against Pantoja. Why not? They did it for Kai Asakura and Horiguchi’s on a longer winning streak than Asakura was when he got the shot. Plus Horiguchi beat Asakura the last time they fought. I think bringing guys in from other promotions to challenge Pantoja could’ve become a cool little thing as well. This isn’t as big of a misfire but it kind of reminds me of when they ballsed up that big Randy Couture vs Mirko Cro Cop fight which they had right in their lap in 2007. Couture was riding that mad wave of momentum having just came out of retirement to dethrone Tim Sylvia. And Cro Cop was coming in fresh off the back of that Pride Grand Prix win at the end of 2006. It was right there and they decided to make Cro Cop fight Eddie Sanchez and Gabriel Gonzaga first, either to make him ‘earn it’, which is bollocks, or to ‘build him up’, and we saw how that went. They should’ve just booked Couture vs Cro Cop the nanosecond they could. Obviously, Pantoja vs Horiguchi isn’t the same thing but it does baffle me why they’re going this route. Especially in a division like Flyweight which has a bunch of good fighters but little in the way of fresh contenders. Now they’re throwing banana skins in Horiguchi’s path and for what? Because Ulanbekov is 33 years old so he’s hardly some young prospect, he’s barely in the Top 10, he’s injury prone and only fights sporadically. If he wins it kills Horiguchi and it’s not even like there’s huge upside in Ulanbekov.

Guess this pretty much confirms Pantoja is fighting Kai Kara-France next.

So the YouTuber gets to put a ex world champion who was never good, but has a famous surname of a fighter who was a fantastic  fighter in his prime and lost to Anderson Silva years ago on his resume, I guess Chavez JR is years younger then Mike Tyson, so maybe won't look like he's going to keel over onto the ground during the walk in entrance to the ring in his quest to become himself a boxing world champion.

No doubt it will sell a large  number of PPV's.
