Every time I feel my wrestling snobbery kicking in, I throw on a Mongo match and I'm smiling within minutes. I know he's been giffed into oblivion, but could he wrestle? Yeah, mostly. Was he charismatic, over the top, and fun? Yeah, I should say so. Him and his dog. On the Four Horsemen DVD, I love seeing old Ric light up when talking about him. No doubt his grid iron grit has him in good stead to fight his current fight. Baby. Ain't that prettay??

Despite not having a clue what his nickname was all about, which sounded way too similar to an insult thrown liberally around school playgrounds back then, Mongo was and still is one of my biggest guilty pleasures in wrestling.

I have not seen it to be sure but I'm guessing it's akin to the Mongo character from Blazing Saddles, also played by a fomer NFL star (Alex Karras).

Some good news, Mongo has been elected to the football Hall Of Fame. And I’m sure many on here would like to see this documentary

This is both heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time.

I hope he gets to August so he can make it to Canton.
