Seemed to be a decent crowd in despite the weather, it was one of the half modified stadium crowds. Edited May 17 by Egg Shen Quote

I think so did lots of people from Doncaster as I have seen some pictures of the place looking half empty before the sun went down. Gomez Jnr seems like a total dickhead from his interview. I remember liking watching his dad fight, but didn't he have similar issues ? Yes Sr was a very wild character from a young age. Quote
HandsomeButchIII Posted May 17 Posted May 17 Dave Allen, as lovely as he is, probably should have pulled out when he originally did a few years ago. Quote
NeverYield Posted May 18 Posted May 18 I said on this thread that I like Dave Allen and I do, but outmatched or not that was a poor showing, he was never gonna win it, in any way shape or form, but I felt it was him just going in there trying to survive as many rounds as he could, and take his dough, whilst showcasing Hrgovic off to the people for an Itauma clash. d-d-d-dAz Posted May 20 Posted May 20 (edited) Dave Allen has a horrible level of talent, really. I suspect he was one of those kids that was always better than the boys around him at the gym, and always able to pull out a decent performance as an underdog as he stepped up, or against older kids. But the sense of belief in himself this has bred in him has led him to some pretty fucking dark places. He seems a decent bloke, I hope he's okay as he gets older but fuck me he's taking some lumps thinking he's better than he is. Edited May 20 by d-d-d-dAz Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted May 22 Paid Members Posted May 22 This is tomorrow then. The complete lack of discussion and interest from all of us in here speaks volumes. I’ll watch it because it’s Usyk but the whole thing feels weird. Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted May 23 Author Paid Members Posted May 23 If anything I think it'll be the one event where the visual element will match the hype. I plan on watching though, I think Verhoeven will do better than most people expect too. Usyk on points. Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted May 23 Author Paid Members Posted May 23 full card with ring estimated ring walk times: I'll probably hop on from Daniel Lapin on. Undercard is decent, not as star studded as past Riyadh Season shows but it's decent. Sanchez/Torrez Jr the pick of the bunch, they've been talking up a potential Torrez/Itauma fight all week, this will be the fight to show if he's got the goods. Catteral a decent sized favorite against Giyasov but talk is this is a tough fight for him. Sheeraz seems to have a bit of a gimme against Begic. Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted May 23 Paid Members Posted May 23 Crazy that this fight is actually happening. At some point over the last year or so Verhoeven was linked to a fight with Anthony Joshua (before the car crash tragedy happened and AJ’s return understandably got delayed), a fight at UFC 324 in January against Derrick Lewis, a mixed rules fight against Francis Ngannou and now he’s somehow found himself with Usyk in front of the pyramids. Fair play to him. He shopped around and, while he’s almost certainly getting schooled tonight, I’m sure he’s getting silly money for this. At 37 and at this late stage in his combat sports career, it couldn’t have timed much better for him. Quote
jimufctna24 Posted May 23 Posted May 23 I'm not a kickboxing guy, but from what I've read Verhoeven in kickboxing had better feet than hands, average power, and was dropped by moderate punchers. Thus I'm not expecting much out of this fight, even as a spectacle. Quote
Gooner Posted May 23 Posted May 23 It's Usyk so I'll be watching, but the card overall does look good. I'm looking forward to seeing if Sheeraz can become world champion for the first time. I got him winning by TKO between 4-5 rounds and Usyk winning between 5/6 rounds by TKO. Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted May 23 Paid Members Posted May 23 Was just gonna post that picture. Say what you want about the fight itself but that does look incredible. Quote
NeverYield Posted May 23 Posted May 23 It's nothing to write home about as a main event but yes, an epic set up. There's a few fights tonight though I'm interested in, I've had a hectic day and I'm ready now, tomfoolery or no tomfoolery. 🤣 Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted May 23 Paid Members Posted May 23 Just now, NeverYield said: tomfoolery Is he on the undercard? I like Rico but I reckon Usyk stops him, maybe even in the first six rounds. Quote
