The end of Joe Joyce's fight in Russia was odd. He proper no mas'd it. The Gassiev fight was pretty rubbish as well. Khudira looked scared of throwing too many punches and he was gassed after 5 rounds. No shame in it as he was a late replacement.

Yes terrible card that, had it on before the football, Joyce had no business being in the ring

I like Joe Joyce. Seems a nice guy. But the gimmick he had for years of ‘he’s got a granite chin and just soaks up punishment then slowly clubs you to death’ is never a good long term thing. And we’re unfortunately seeing the results of it now. It was really uncomfortable to watch. I hope he gets out now. He’s gonna be 41 in a couple of months, it’s only gonna get worse.

I love Joe. I hope he's okay, not just now but long term.

Sure I've told this story before, as i'm an old man with a few stories on repeat, but when he fought Dubois in the church during Covid, I had to go get him from his hotel room to take him to the venue for the fight. We went up to his room, and he was sat at the desk playing computer games. Had a gaming headset on, the whole deal. Just so in his own world. Then he just popped it on pause, went and had a fight, then went home to finish his game.

Just a very nice, normal bloke who fell into boxing when his Olympic dream looked otherwise over. I really hope it didn't take everything from him.

Yeah, a real sad end for Joe Joyce 😔 such a strange career, early in his career it was almost young Tyson Fury-esque where he was clearly a good fighter but the akwardness (and in Joe's case lack of speed) made him abit of a laughing stock. It wasn't really until the Dubois win that people started to rate Joyce, he went on his Terminator run after that. It was those Big Bang Zhang fights that ruined him, his legendary punch card run out those nights.

Yeah Joyce looked formidable at times but you need to come with as complete a package as you can in boxing

We saw it with Wardley just continuously trying to get Dubois with the right, with no sign of attempting anything else.

Joyce made his whole image about being able to take a shot and run through people, and that's just not viable, that can work as a good talking point in certain fights, but you just build up a huge backlog of damage that you can't recover from.

Temu Eubank going life and death with old father time last night was an entertaining scrap but really showed his level. Well worth a watch but skip round 1.

Yeah Eubanks fight was an unexpectedly entertaining fight, pleased the right man won, it was a good scrap though but he is is just not world level is he.

Diego Pacheco broke up Aleem in a measured and methodical performance, used the jab to near perfection, brilliant bodywork, does he lack the power behind the shots to go all the way though? Sheeraz next? 

Leo Atang done what was expected of him against an opponent not worth talking about, hes only young and been pro about a year, no need to rush him but the opposition has been terrible.

Apparently Tyson Fury beat Marius Wach (shock!) just now in this stupid behind closed doors, not televised, glorified spar that they’re calling a ‘warm up’ for this AJ fight that should’ve happened a decade ago. Wach done on the stool and never came out for the 8th round. Farce.

Onto AJ vs Prenga tomorrow. My only interest in all this is to see what obstacle magically pops up to once again block this Fury vs AJ fight. I won’t believe they’re fighting each other until I see them in there with my own eyes.

Apparently the Wach fight was made with the idea of filming it all for the upcoming series of Tyson's reality show.

The Joshua/Prenga may at least resemble a real fight tomorrow. I suspect it goes long and AJ takes his time.

From the clips i've seen of the utter farce Fury looked ponderous and off balance, looked much better in his last outing.

I backed tyson massively back in the day but his career path has taken a massive nosedive for me, so many what ifs.

I think joshua, in reasonable form is all wrong for him nowadays.

What do we reckon about errol spence vs tim tsyzu lads? As we get closer i think Spence may find this much harder than him and his team have anticipated...

I would be interested to see you elaborate on this. 

My read is a little different. Even at this stage, I think Fury combination of skill, clinch game, and durability is all wrong for Joshua. That is, unless Fury really half arses training or has aged significantly by the time the fight actually happens.

It's a tough one really because I really did, and still do I suppose, back Tyson Fury, I don't heavily dislike him, despite his shit talk and obvious nonsense, and the fact I think there's other fights he should have taken besides prime Joshua. 

And he definitely is still the superior boxer in terms of all of the above, but I can just see a nightmare for Fury where Joshua is able to close that gap with athletiscism and his power, because the fight is happening at this juncture. I don't think that would have been enough for Joshua all those years ago and I fear it may be today. Fwiw I would still like to see Fury win, and he may very well do, but he's looked at times lately like he has faded a bit in fights, and that style he has which is very active for a man his size isn't exactly easier as you age.

I was a Fury fan too. Not as big as I was/am with Usyk, but a supporter nonetheless. I'm fairly neutral towards him nowadays. 

I can understand your reservations about the miles on Fury's clock.  I just look at how Usyk beat Fury, and struggle to see how Joshua could do similar. Usyk won those fights through pressuring, a high workrate, and he could deal with Fury's clinch attempts when he needed to. I don't see Joshua plowing forward in the same way, working with the same volume, or being as effective at neutralising Fury's clinch attempts. I could be wrong, but if they stand off with one another, I think Fury has enough foot work and skill left to outbox Joshua and tie him up when he needs to (a bit similar to Fury's bout with Wlad all those years ago, just poorer quality)

I can also see, especially after seeing how Joshua's crumbled under Dubois's pressure, a scenario where Fury fights Joshua similarly to how boxed Wilder. In other words, pressuring Joshua, moving him back, and clinching when he needs to, and drawing from his durability if Joshua times him coming in. In that scenario, I can see Fury stopping Joshua.
