I have a horrible feeling that Canelo just beats Crawford handily, in a drawn out manner over 12 rounds.

I think you might be right Daz. I'm not sure that Crawford has the power to trouble Canelo, he didn't trouble Madrimov with his power in the last fight and Canelo is two weight divisions higher. If he can't put a dent in Canelo then he'll be in for a long night.

When Crawford debuted at 154lbs he weighed 170lbs in the ring on the night, Canelo when he last fought at 175lbs weighed 180 on the night, Crawford looks well but how will he operate over 12 at the new weight, and I genuinely cant see him stopping Canelo, points decision if he does win, GGG couldlnt break Canelo down and he was about as formidable as it gets leverage wise on punches 

Crawford is one of my favourite current fighters but can also be prone to periods of inactivity, and Canelo, Scull fight aside has a ferocious work rate that could see him out working Crawford 

Time well tell, we haven't got long to wait now, in the boxing news this week its 26 picks for Canelo and 22 for Crawford out of a whole host of fighters, trainers and promoters who were asked. 

Crawford is just sublime though I can't imagine him losing, or see it..

I'd love to be excited about this but im not.

Never been a fan of Crawford and think hes very overrated. Massively inactive and his best win is over a guy who was smashed to pieces in a car accident.  Think he was lucky to have missed out on the Mayweather, De La Hoya,  Quartey,  Forrest, Mosley, Trinidad era (all i think beat him)

In the other corner you have a PED cheat, whose been cherry picking fights for years and benefits from the scorecard being pre filled out in his favour. Should have 2 losses to GGG, 1 to Lara and a draw/loss to Villaneuva.  He'll the fix was in for Bivol but it was so comprehensive they couldnt do it!!!

Also benefits from the weakest Middle/Super Middle era in decades.

I hope Crawford does it, and 3 weight undisputed is a great achievement, but its not exactly occurred in the Hagler/hearns/duran/Leonard era has it?

All valid opinions.  Crawford was also put down by Gamboa.

Hopefully this isn't also a fight where the fighters are so good that they cancel each other out.

I actually think the opposite is true.

Crawford is better than he is greater. His career does not do his skill justice.

It's reasonable to question the quality of Crawford's record compared to others, but it's not like he's just beaten bums. He's decisively beaten some world class operators with an array of styles. He's excellent at making adjustments and gameplanning. As examples, he neutralised Diaz's forward pressure, Horn's clinch, and Gamboa's speed. He also had answers for Spence's jab and inside work.

Crawford would have been a tough match-up for Mayweather with his reach, jab, and fight IQ. More likely to beat Mayweather than Pac ever was imo. Crawford is also way smarter a fighter than ODH, who ignored his corner's advice against Mayweather to utilise his jab more, which was responsible for his best moments in that fight.

The one who was robbed versus Trinidad, and beat Quartey, Vargas  and was robbed in Mosley 2 wins.

I agree he would be a difficult fight for floyd....one I don't think hed take as he avoided big rangy welters like Margarito and Paul Williams however indo think hes work himbout and take a close decision!

I'd probably be more in Camp Crawford if he actually fought.

Hes only had 16 fights in 10 years. It's shockingly low activity.

While ODH was indeed on the slide when he boxed Floyd, I don't think we can attribute his poor fight IQ in that fight to age. 

I agree Mayweather would have avoided Crawford. He avoided Margarito, going so far as to ensure that his TV network wouldn't even bring up his name in meetings (Hauser was probably giddy as duck when he reported this). However, my read is that he avoided Margarito for a different reason than he would have avoided Crawford. 

Mayweather would have likely won a clear decision against Margarito imo, but such a fight could have taken years off his career. Margarito was a very durable pressure fighter, who even after the hand-wrap controversy, could cause serious damage to opponents. Pac was apparently in a right state post-fight due to a body shot that Margarito landed on him, despite bossing the fight. 

I think Mayweather would have avoided Crawford for the reasons both of us mentioned (rangy, etc) and the real possibility he would have lost his unbeaten record.

Really going back and forth on this one now, it seems like it should be clear cut but it just isn't, today I still feel like im leaning ever so slightly towards a Crawford upset again.

Is he catching Canelo at the right time?

I’m thinking Canelo takes a close decision. I’m close to 50/50 but there’s something about Canelo this week that makes me feel like he’s more up for this than we’ve seen him in a while. Purely on skills I could absolutely see Crawford winning. But when it comes down to it, I just don’t see him stopping Canelo. Going up in weight, I’m not sure he’s gonna have enough venom in his punches for that, especially against Canelo who’s got one of the all time cement chins. But taking a decision off him might be a big ask as well. I feel like the judges are gonna favour Canelo even if they shouldn’t. We’ll see. I think it’s gonna be competitive but I just feel like Canelo’s gonna come out with his hand raised. I’d love to see Crawford win though.
