Wee Jock Poo Pong McPlop football thread

They wanted to enter a Colts team in the Highland league but were knocked back. This seems like a decent workaround.

Scottish football gets a terrible rep on here so maybe a separate thread is better for it if people only want to discuss English football in the other thread.

Nice one. A platform to talk about real football.

Scottish football is brilliant. Yes, large swathes of supporters here are stuck in 1700s tribalism, but the unpredictability and lack of resources makes for tremendous viewing. Pre-season optimism here counts for absolutely everything: it is a unique feeling seeing your team sign what is essentially an entirely new squad of shitheads, rejects, misfits and the sons of past footballing legends and pin all your hopes on them. Will they be any good? Probably not. Who will be shite? Everyone in the division, most likely. But you will see some damn good games of fast paced, madcap and chaotic football. I wouldn't trade our football - warts and all - for anything. Keep your glossy, billion pound contracts and sterile friendlies in China or Saudi Arabia.

This season we've signed two players who go by the name of Cole and Seedorf, and our shirts look absolutely glorious with no sponsor after we agreed a #saveourshirts deal with Paddy Power. Chuck in the fact that we've played 4 League Cup games, scoring 13 and conceding fuck all and I think it's safe to say things are looking good.

Top six and a cup run all the way.

How is one of the tags for this group not East Fife 4 Forfar 5?

Scottiah football is fascinating. I'm not looking forward to seeing how Berwick Rangers get on in the Lowland League following a pretty big change in personnel up there.

Aberdeen signed James Wilson, a player who man united were paying 30k a week (reportedly). Was there on loan last season but didn't do much.

Scottish football is strange, the teams vary so much one season to the next as so many of the players are signed on 1 to 2 year deals as clubs can't really afford big fuck ups. For many players it is a place to try and get your career back on track.

Sportscene is great, mainly as it doesn't have Wright, Savage or Shearer in it.

It's absolutely bizarre one season to a next. Last season, I think Kilmarnock finished third. Probably this season coming they'll be scrapping for their lives at the bottom. If Rangers and Celtic weren't in the league, we'd probably have different champs every year.

Livingston with their absolutely empty stadium in the TV coverage does my head in for some reason too.

They can't be the only ones though? Hamilton Accies and Kilmarnock (pre-Clarke) have woeful crowds too.

Hamilton Accies stadium is in the middle of a shopping retail park AND they offer some free tickets and still can't get a crowd, apart from the usual couple of matches with the Old Firm.

That's because Hamilton, like most places in the west of Scotland, is full of fans of the Old Firm.
