Paid Members Dead Mike Posted January 26, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted January 26, 2016 He might I suppose but I'd guess that they'd want more than a week to promote the return of the best fighter in the company?
Paid Members ColinBollocks Posted January 26, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted January 26, 2016 Get it booked Dana! What an exciting and unexpected save this will be. Â You can see why UFC won't do it, but if somehow Jones loses he's got plenty of excuses and IMO a loss doesn't harm the DC rematch that much. seanz25
True about the promotion, but then they can pump out enough shit and get enough media on-board easily, especially at the moment with the UFC hype train being at an all time high. Paid Members lambyUK Posted January 26, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted January 26, 2016 The irony of Jones saying he will fight to save the event after 151's cancellation. Â Normally I would say its nuts to do an interim belt, but after Werdum's ill advised comments I wouldn't have a problem with it.
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted January 26, 2016 Author Paid Members Share Posted January 26, 2016 I love the Jones idea if it's for an interim title. It'd be taking the piss if they stripped Werdum of the proper title and let Jones and Miocic fight for it though. Â Really, though, I'd rather see Cormier vs Jones 2 and let Jones' move to heavyweight happen when it happens rather than rush it just to save an already knackered card. I'd rather lose this show completely or let it go to Fight Pass with a Hendricks-Wonderboy main event than go for the quick fix and throw Jones in there on this notice. It'd be cool to see but I still want to see DC vs Jones 2 and maybe Jones vs Gus 2 and Rumble before he moves up. Â Then again, they're letting McGregor fight for one title while holding another. Maybe Jones could do the same.
seanz25
Jason Coles who writes for MMASun whatever that is claims Miocic was offered Jones but bailed on it. Guy has been RT'd by a few other general sources... If true that's dissapointng.
Paid Members Supremo Posted January 26, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted January 26, 2016 Show is being taken off PPV and being broadcast on Fox Sports 1. Probably the best option possible.
seanz25
Gotta feel for the poor fuckers who've paid $600+ a ticket to not even get a legit main event.
icke83
Apparently Dos Anjos Vs. McGregor is now the main event of UFC 196 on the same date (March 5th) with the show that would have been 196 now airing on Fox instead with the Hendricks fight as the main event. Probably protects the numbered shows being traditional PPV's then. That way people don't get confused.
METAL ON METAL
They're not budging on the date for UFC 200, meaning they have to add in another PPV show in that free month before then. Which also means they're going to throw together loads of underwhelming fights and one semi-important main event, essentially putting them in this same position if injury does strike - like a merry go round. pryko
Does this mean we get another PPV between now and 200, or is UFC 200 just being pushed back? Â EDIT: Â Bit late, missed the post above
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted January 28, 2016 Author Paid Members Share Posted January 28, 2016 Yeah they never had a PPV pencilled in for May so I imagine they'll slot one in there. Traditionally the May PPV is a big one but under these circumstances fuck knows what they're going to cobble together. Â Saying that, it might work out alright. If they can get some shit signed soon, there's plenty of time to get things lined up in time for May. You could potentially see Rockhold vs Weidman 2, Cruz vs Faber 3, a Werdum defence could be re-booked, Robbie Lawler could be back around then. They've got some options there.
