Golden Girls, Empty Nest, Angels.

All three are awful.

Hang Time and Saved By The Bell also share a Universe, resulting in an episode with romance. And in the strangest one, In The House and Fresh Prince of Bel Air share a universe originally as Carlton appears for an episode on In The House for a plot, but then Alfonso Ribero returns as a full time cast member a few years later as Dr Maxwell Stanton meaning they no longer share a Universe.

I watched both shows religiously and don't remember that, which characters were involved?

Mary Beth off Hang Time and god knows who off SATB: The New Class as it changed cast every week.

One that springs to mind is NCIS, NCIS:LA, NCIS:NO obviously they are set in the same universe but NCIS:LA has crossed over with Hawaii 5-0 and Hetty appeared in Scorpion last season so thats also part of the same unvierse

NCIS was originally a spin off from Jag as well

So JAG, NCIS, NCIS:LA, NCIS: NO, Hawaii 5-0 and Scorpion are all set in the universe

Also a recent one currently on the air as well is Law and order SVU

Law and Order: SVU is a spin off from the original Law and Order, throw in the the other spin offs they've had, Law and Order: Criminal Intent, Law and Order: Trial by Jury, Law and Order: Los Angeles

SVU has crossed over with Chicago PD and Chicgao Fire which have also crossed over with each other and the new spin off coming from that Franchise is Chicago Med so they are set in the universe as well

Also Munch appeared in Homicide: Life on the streets before being in SVU and share the same Continuity, I believe in Luther (the Uk seires) he is mentioned as being a contact in the SVU department of NY so Luther can also be added to the list of being in the same universe

Homicide, Law and order shows, Chicago shows all share the same universe with Luther

Munch also appeared in The Wire and The Lone Gunmen so they all exist in the same universe as well

So does that mean Idris Elba is two different people in the same universe? As Luther and Stringer Bell technically somehow exist in the same universe.

It would appear so.

Friends and Mad About You (which nobody I know watched) were in the same universe. Lisa Kudrow played the character of Ursula in Mad About You which turned out to be Phoebe's sister in Friends, and in one episode Helen Hunt and the other one turned up in Friends.

Not the same, but I found amusing - there is an early episode of The Big Bang Theory where they mentioned that TV's Blossom had a degree in neuroscience. Then much later, Mayim Bialik (who was Blossom) turns up in the show playing Amy, a neuroscientist. So both Amy played by Mayim Bialik and the actual actress Mayim Bialik exist in that universe.

Although I prefer the thought that in the world of Marvel movies (disregarding that they are separate studios), when you watch First Class and Guardians, in that universe there both exists Sebastian Shaw as played by Kevin Bacon, and actual Kevin Bacon.

During Lost's big run where every new show on TV tried to be Lost, that FlashForward show put an advert for Oceanic Airlines in the background (in reality, Oceanic Airlines is a studio owned patent that has been used in dozens of films and TV shows for decades now) just as a cheap hook to try and get the Lost audience involved by acting as if it was in the same world even though there was no connection at all.

Friends and Mad About You (which nobody I know watched) were in the same universe. Lisa Kudrow played the character of Ursula in Mad About You which turned out to be Phoebe's sister in Friends, and in one episode Helen Hunt and the other one turned up in Friends.

In an episode of Mad About You, we found out Paul still had a batchelor pad and it was Jerry Seinfeld's apartment, complete with Kramer as neighbour. So Friends (and Joey, by extension), Mad About You and Seinfeld all exist in the same universe.

Plus, Friends and Caroline In The City crossed over, and Niles & Daphne from Frasier appeared in Caroline In The City, too. So Friends, Joey, Mad About You, Seinfeld, Caroline In The City, Frasier, Cheers, and The Tortellis all exist in the same universe.

And, characters from Cheers appeared in Wings, and doctors from St Elsewhere drunk at Cheers. And a character from The Dick Van Dyke Show appeared in Mad About You. And characters from Hope & Gloria met Phoebe in Central Perk. And a blackout that featured in Mad About You & Friends on the same night also featured in madman of the People.

Tangled web.

Seen as all of those shows are set in real world places, as opposed to a fictional place like Gotham City, couldn't you argue that many other TV shows that are set in the same universe, I.e the actual universe

Because they all live in the real world places in the actual universe! You might as well say that Friends & Coronation Street share the same universe

You really don't get this do you?

I get it completely, but suggesting a bunch of shows share a collective universe based purely on the fact that they are set in the same real world place is a tenuous link.

Yeah, no one has said that.

Plus, Friends and Caroline In The City crossed over,

Did they? Lea Thompson was in an episode, it wasn't explicit she was playing Caroline. Unless you're thinking of something else that I'm unaware of.
