But it could also be awful or end up not even happening knowing Lauryn Hill. They played their first show is 15 years last night in New York. They were apparently 3 hours late to the stage and played 7 songs.
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted September 24, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted September 24, 2021 Stumbled upon this album by J.Arrr that came out last week called ‘Broken Easel’. Never heard of him before and only even checked it out because there’s a Ransom feature on it but it’s really good in its own right. One track off it;
SuperBacon
As stated a million times, not a massive fan of 'same beat remixes' but Wayne says "I'll boom shakalaka your medulla oblongota" so it's ok in my opinion. Â
Paid Members Dead Mike Posted September 25, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted September 25, 2021 Solemn Brigham's debut solo album came out yesterday. I loved both Marlowe albums and whilst this isn't as consistent it's still absolutely worth checking out. Â

SuperBacon
Not much to write home about. Aesop Rock is making an album with Blockhead so that's something to look forward to. Sure I'm forgetting some things I've heard recently though. Anyone else? Old or new? In the meantime... Â
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted October 29, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted October 29, 2021 The new Ransom and Rome Streetz album ‘Coup De Grace’ came out today. Gave it a spin in the car on the way home from work and I’m loving it so far. The opening track ‘No Remorse’; And ‘Claudine’ featuring Che Noir; Whole thing is worth a listen though.
wordsfromlee
I gave the new record by Mick Jenkins a spin on the way home from work the other day. I've never heard of him before but he sounds a bit like Andre 3000 to me. Not in delivery, but in his voice. I quite enjoyed the album but then I am a sucker for jazzy minimal production.
SuperBacon
My thoughts on Aesop Rock are well documented on here, but his latest album Garbology with Blockhead absolutely fucking bangs. Some rappers just work with certain producers, and this is definitely the case here.

Paid Members Carbomb Posted November 22, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted November 22, 2021 My sister has been one of my hip-hop gurus in my journey of discovery, and, upon hearing that I like lyricists, pointed me in the direction of this battle between Quantum Physics and Qleen Paper - QP vs. QP as it was billed. It's a bit old, but some of the bars are amazing: Â
SuperBacon
Drakeo The Ruler has passed away after being stabbed in the neck at a festival he was performing at. This is unbelievable. Hub from The Roots also passed away recently, as well as Kangol Kid from UTFO. What a fucking shit year for hip hop deaths. Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted February 27, 2022 Paid Members Share Posted February 27, 2022 (edited) Anyone heard anything good lately? I’ve been a little bit out of the loop but caught this new Pusha T track recently which I liked, don’t think much of the backup dancer here though; And while I’ve mostly burned out on the Griselda lot massively, and I’m not much of a J Cole fan, this Benny The Butcher and J Cole song was a really pleasant surprise. Best thing I’ve heard from Benny in ages. He’s got ‘Tana Talk 4’ coming out soon (March I think) so I’m hoping this is a sign of things to come, hopefully it won’t turn out to just be the one highlight on another disappointing project. His last one with 38 Spesh was a massive letdown. The fact he’s named it ‘Tana Talk 4’ is gonna naturally have it compared to ‘Tana Talk 3’ which was ace, so I hope it delivers. Speaking of letdowns, Conway’s long talked about album ‘God Don’t Make Mistakes’ came out yesterday and I found it very, very…average. I can always do without Rick Ross turning up so him featuring instantly knocked points off. Lil Wayne doesn’t do it for me either. Bit of a weird one as a whole. It wasn’t terrible, and I found the second half better than the first, but I can’t see it getting much play from me in the future. What have you heard? Edited February 27, 2022 by wandshogun09
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted March 6, 2022 Paid Members Share Posted March 6, 2022 Had no idea this was coming out but this new Onyx album ‘1993’ is well worth a listen. Sounds like been it’s directly lifted from the early 90s rather than recorded now. Enjoyed it.
