Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted October 26, 2024 Paid Members Posted October 26, 2024 A walk off grand slam in extra innings with two outs is about as exciting as it gets. Mind you, walking Soto to load the bases and bring up Judge is a big call. Thankfully for them it worked. Quote
Paid Members FLips Posted October 26, 2024 Paid Members Posted October 26, 2024 Yeah you couldn't have scripted a better first game of the WS. Quote
MVP RULZ Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 Absolute better of a game, stayed up to watch live as on holiday from work and it was well worth it Good starting pitching, big home runs (I thought that Stanton shot was going to the moon) some good defence, dramatic comebacks late on. And of course that Grand Slam from Freeman was epic, off the bat everyone in the stadium and watching knew instantly it wad gone. Hope the rest of the series lives up to this game Clocks going back for us a week before the US means it's midnight start times as well for us making staying up slightly more bearable as well. Quote
Paid Members FLips Posted October 29, 2024 Paid Members Posted October 29, 2024 The Yankees on the brink of being swept, and the Curse of Fat Joe. What a World Series. Quote
Paid Members FLips Posted October 30, 2024 Paid Members Posted October 30, 2024 (edited) Those two Yankees fans taking a $5000 ticket, 1st inning lifetime ban ejection sure was something. Never seen anything like it, it's surely assault? Edit: Apparently they're being let back in for Game 5! Edit: MLB got their shit together and the fans have been banned, at least from Game 5. Paid Members Gus Mears Posted October 31, 2024 Paid Members Posted October 31, 2024 (edited) Thank you Dodgers. Spoiler Fuck the Dodgers I'm never getting over us trading Betts. It's the sport equivalent of the love who got away. But not only that, they've ended up with a far more attractive and successful new partner. Edited October 31, 2024 by Gus Mears Quote
Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted October 31, 2024 Paid Members Posted October 31, 2024 It was lovely to see the Yankees contribute so much to their own demise. To channel a commentator from another sport, my nanny would have caught that one Judge dropped in her pinny. Quote

But not only that, they've ended up with a far more attractive and successful new partner. I feel the same about Teo. Wild to think a year ago the Dodgers were gladly taking Kolten Wong from us. It was a heck of a season, not so much for the Mariners who went on an unprecedented hot streak and then completely shat the bed and missed the post season, or for our house's other team the Orioles who also filled their beds full of shit, but for other teams I bet it was nice. I think despite the Mariners bottle job, my personal low of the season was trading Paul Sewald for a on-paper good trade despite us losing our best closer and the stupid "Sea us Wald" meme that went with him, only for him to do so bad on the D-Backs that they took the role of Closer off him and will likely release him before the next season. Baseball really is astounding how players can make it or break it completely dependent on the team they're on. Quote

MVP RULZ Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 The Yankees lost that game as much as the Dodgers won it Giving 5 unearned runs in 1 inning, in a win or go home situation when leading by 5 runs is just spectacular levels of ineptitude. Judge dropping the most routine of flyballs, Volpe trying to make the harder through to 3rd instead of taking the much easier out to 1st (I understand what he was thinking but they were still well ahead at the time just take the out) and then Cole having a total lapse not running to cover 1st Base and then the inning spiraled Cole did well I thought to rebound the next Inning and a bit and the Yankees seemed to somehow manage to wrestle the momentum back and take the lead again but it just wasn't going to be there night. Dodgers incidentally became the 1st team to comeback from 5+ down, give the lead back and then still comeback to win in postseason history. For the Marlins it was very much a comedown year after the high of making the playoffs last season and then the usual firesale mid season means it's probably going to be a while until we see those highs again, it took 20 years to get back last time (in a full season anyway) and not holding out much hope it won't take that long again. At least Sandy will be back in the rotation next season and we do have the arms to have a decent to very good staff but they'll need to all need to be aces as the hitting side of things is poor to very poor at times. Paid Members FLips Posted November 5, 2024 Paid Members Posted November 5, 2024 The excitement of the Offseason has started. Mariners already making moves by releasing Jorge Polanco. I think we'll see a fair bit of shedding dead weight this year but you have to hope we fill the gaps appropriately. Chuffed for Cal Raleigh and Dylan Moore both winning Golden Glove awards. Well deserved, they were the backbone of a team that underdelivered all season. We came a game shy of the Postseason but we would have been miles off without them. Quote
Paid Members Gus Mears Posted November 5, 2024 Paid Members Posted November 5, 2024 (edited) We've given Slick Nick Pivetta the QO for reasons I cannot comprehend. Probably the shittest player going who got one, though if it signals an overall increase in spending (it probably won't) then fine. Edited November 5, 2024 by Gus Mears Democracy manifest Quote

Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted December 4, 2024 Paid Members Posted December 4, 2024 Awful idea. Baseball is a pretty simple game, keep it that way Quote
