Paid Members Burchill's Buddy Posted August 20, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted August 20, 2012 (edited) I did wonder, Burch, if any metal fans would be able to tell what the original sample I chopped up for the solo was. It's from one of my alltime favourite albums. Â Â Well that's one way to get a load more listens on your SoundCloud page....I'm going to be listening to that for the next hour trying to work out what it is. Bastard. Â EDIT - Has to be Van Halen right? Edited August 20, 2012 by Burchill's Buddy
Loki
Yeah, really good that, Chest. Â Track is fairly done, I just need to find an evening to go into the studio, do a quick mix of the track an upload it, but it's been so fucking hot this weekend that the last thing I wanted to do was fire up the Mac Pro and bask in its heatwave. KingOfMetal
that much shredding and the tone of it sounds like Van Halen to me. The first part of it sounds like 'Eruption', but then seems to trail off into something else, could be a live version i suppose
Paid Members Burchill's Buddy Posted August 20, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted August 20, 2012 Yeah Eruption was my first thought too.....sounded a lot like it, but not enough like it to be a spot on pull, like you say could be either a live track, an alternate take or possibly mixed with another of his solos? Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted August 20, 2012 Moderators Share Posted August 20, 2012 Haha.. This is fun.. Â Sorry guys, it's not Van Halen at all.. but it is a live track! Also I will tell you whatever it is, it has been chopped and stretched and fucked around with, but I think there's enough there for it to be recognisable. KingOfMetal
as the tree said to the woodsman, "I'm stumped". Â Its not Van Halen, it doesnt sound like Zakk Wylde/BLS....Randy Rhodes? Satriani? Ted Nugent?
Paid Members Burchill's Buddy Posted August 20, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted August 20, 2012 Yeah I'm out too, I definitely thought we had it with Van Halen. Sounds too twiddly and experimental for Rhodes.
Rey_Piste
It's not Dimebag is it?
Paid Members Surf Digby Posted August 20, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted August 20, 2012 It is Randy Rhoads. Â It's the unaccompanied guitar solo that he does halfway through Suicide Solution on the Tribute album.
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted August 20, 2012 Moderators Share Posted August 20, 2012 (edited) Ding ding ding.. Winner! Â You never let me down, Surf! <3 Edited August 20, 2012 by Chest Rockwell
Paid Members Surf Digby Posted August 20, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted August 20, 2012 (edited) Rhoads was my idol when I was around 14/15, and pretty much the inspiration behind me taking up the guitar. Somewhere I have a bunch of tapes of jam sessions with friends, and on a couple of them I play that solo almost note for note. Â Tribute is how the first album should have sounded. With the exception of Revelation (Mother Earth), every track outshines the studio versions. Edited August 20, 2012 by bAzTNM#1 Fan
Loki
Mainly for Chest, but I've finally finished a mix of my mega-slow hiphop/triphop track. Light em if you've got em. Â http://soundcloud.com/trademark-music/lave-station
Stormy Weathers
Here is an acid soaked piece of music from my old band........We weren't really playing "Instruments" on this track just fucking around.  People will probably hate it but I thought I'd share it......It's pretty trippy   Mainly for Chest, but I've finally finished a mix of my mega-slow hiphop/triphop track. Light em if you've got em. http://soundcloud.com/trademark-music/lave-station  That's not too bad at all  Not really my forte but damn if it doesn't sound smooth

Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted January 14, 2013 Moderators Share Posted January 14, 2013 (edited) http://soundcloud.com/thanuts/unrefined-sugar  Pretty raw quick little beat I did the other night; I really like the sample I've chopped here.   edit - seems soundcloud is a bit fucked at the minute Edited January 14, 2013 by Chest Rockwell
