Paid Members CuckedByMenry Posted August 28, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted August 28, 2012 I watched Grown Ups at the weekend. How is it possible to have a cast full of funny people and fail to make one decent joke?! The only thing that kept me going was the oncoming Norm Macdonald appearances, and even they were shit. Chris Rock is a terrible actor too. I've got nearly all of Adam Sandler's films, Grown Ups will never be one of them. Apparently they're doing a sequel.

Paid Members ColinBollocks Posted August 28, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted August 28, 2012 They could have Don Rickles, Bob Newhart, Tracy Morgan, the ghost of Rodney Dangerfield and Iron Sheik and it will still be shite if the writing is of similar quality. Paid Members CuckedByMenry Posted August 29, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted August 29, 2012 I've always had a soft spot for the silly bastard, although it's dwindled with his more recent turns. I've gone from looking forward to seeing his films for the first time to dreading it. Stupid loyalty.
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted August 29, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted August 29, 2012 there was a great article in one of the movie magazines a few months back talking about how Adam Sandler is one of the most succesful actors in Hollywood despite having pretty much all his films panned by the critics. Â If im in the right kinda mood i like me a Sandler movie, they are just stupid, easy entertainment and i think people like that about his movies. DeanoTheGame
I just watched Headhunters. I love these type of cat-and-mouse crime thrillers when they're done well, and this is done very well. Great plot, some arse-clenchingly tense moments and it all comes together nicely at the end. Recommended.
Dr.PeterVenkman
I can't stand most of Adam Sandler's comedies (Happy Gilmore being an exception) but I can't knock him simply because Punch Drunk Love is superb and he's the main reason for that
Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted August 29, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted August 29, 2012 Total Recall is on ITV2 now. If you watch ITV2+1 at 11. It'll be on again. Probably my favourite Arnie film.
WU LYF 4 LYF
Â Absolutely adored this - one of the rare cases where the film matches up to the book. It must have been such a challenge to adapt the text for the screen, as very little happens, but they manage it wonderfully. Every shot is just perfect, the photography is amongst the most beautiful I've seen on any film. Firth deserves credit too; even though I'm not his biggest fan I must admit this is a masterful performance. Julianne Moore is good too. Nicholas Hoult less so, especially with his faux American accent. He makes up for it by being 'shot like an adonis', as one review put it, I've rarely seen someone look so beautiful on camera, his lighting and styling was, again, perfect. Â This film should definitely be more talked about.

He must know how shit they are. There was an article in Hotdog magazine years ago explaining how for a few years in the 90s Ice Cube was the most profitable movie star in Hollywood. His films cost nothing to make and were a license to print money
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted August 30, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted August 30, 2012 Plus Adam Sandler will never ever make a film as good as Trespass or funny as Friday.
Paid Members Dead Mike Posted August 30, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted August 30, 2012 Friday is one of my all time favourite comedies, hugely underrated & immensely quotable.
Paid Members ColinBollocks Posted August 30, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted August 30, 2012 On a slightly Ice Cube related topic, what the buggery happened to Cuba Gooding Jr? I was on his Wikipedia page the other day and the majority of his films for the last 4 years have been Direct-to-DVD.
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted August 30, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted August 30, 2012 I'd say a good portion of Sandler's films are pretty good. Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, The Waterboy, The Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates...I love 'em! Â But then yes, Little Nicky, Mr. Deeds, Funny People, Grown Ups etc. are all fucking shit.
