Baz Windham
About honours even. Normally that day would be the batting sides but after that start you should never end up for 6 by close. Infact probably only England could. Still Strauss was excellent and still in tomorrow so if he stays with some support could get up to 450/500, which will be needed. Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted July 16, 2009 Author Paid Members Share Posted July 16, 2009 The most baffling wicket was Collingwood. After his performance at Cardiff, why was he playing a shot like that against an occasional bowler? Tit. Â Could still get 500 but we need good partnerships from Broad and Swann - REALLY good partnerships.
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted July 17, 2009 Author Paid Members Share Posted July 17, 2009 It's a ball, Straussy. You hit it.
Loki
First ball is always difficult. I think our chances of getting 500 just evaporated though.
Loki
And they've thrown the match away!!!! Unbelievable.
Keith Houchen
Loki, must you do a running commentary? That's what the BBC is for.

Keith Houchen
Fair enough, I guess I'll have to lump you in with the rest of the bottom feeders then.

Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted July 17, 2009 Author Paid Members Share Posted July 17, 2009 It shows you how crap Australia bowled for two-thirds of yesterday that the conditions look pretty tricky to bat in. Great spell by Freddie and Anderson, and some good batting by him too!
Ricc1PW
Terrific effort from Anderson and Onions to carry us to 425 after a 'mare of a start. the middle order was woeful. Â but what a boost to take 2 wickets before lunch, Ponting been one of them. hope we can capitalise and keep the pressure on!
C/WMark Please!
Good start for England, now all they need to do is take the wicket of Simon Katich. Â Otherwise he may run wild like he did in the opening Test in Cardiff. Edited July 17, 2009 by feelthebang
Ricc1PW
Good start for England, now all thy need to do is take the wicket of Simon Katich. Â I feel that taking the other 7 is also pretty important.
Harvey Dent
Great spell from Freddie here, we've really got ourselves in this game. Looking back on some comments like "they've thrown the game away" after losing some wickets is really ridiculous and makes me wonder how much some people actually watch and know about test cricket here. This is why I love the test form the best, we're on top right now but it'll go up and down until monday. Like has been mentioned earlier, great effort from Anderson with the bat yet again, well accompanied by Onions, to really push us well over 400.
