I keep meaning to read that, and "Stormwatch". But life being finite and all that.

I was looking at my bookshelves the other day, and was fairly amazed to realise I'd never read the last two chapters of

Watchmen

My opinion's not going to be a wild surprise, but it's one of the best works of fiction I think I've ever read. I'll try not to spoil it for people, but if you're clicking on this thread and haven't read it, I can only suggest putting off eating or something for a few days and save the money to go and buy yourself a copy.

Making you sympathise for a character like Rorschach is no mean feat. God knows how they're going to update the story though, unless they just set it in the 1980s. Thinking about it, the ending's sort-of fucked up, it's like someone had to be make a Rorschach-like decision, but on a global scale. Quite the "happy" ending, I think.

Glad to hear the Ennis love. I really enjoy reading his Punisher stuff. Kitchen Irish is fucking brutal, there's an image in there of a little girl choking on a glass bottle after the IRA bomb a pub. BRUTAL!

Looking forward to finishing off Y: The Last Man, i am loving this series.

Also looking out for Joker, as mentioned on the last page. Glad to hear it is getting good reviews.

Also has anyone else read Superman: Birthright? I got it for Christmas but haven't picked it up yet.

I love Ennis, he's the reason i got back into comics after a brief spell. I've got two of the Kevin Authority but they are funny. Not many comics start with the hero about to be shot while having a wank.

I'm trying to get into Ellis after reading Transmetropolitan (got volumes 2-8 now) but i can't find a book with that same humour and atmosphere that Trnasmet have. Don't worry i'm still looking and i'm sure i'll find something.

I know this is well off-topic with the current flow of things, but does anyone still read The Beano?

I used to get it every week for years from the first episode with Bea in it until I was about 12 (1998-2002ish)

Is it something adults read, as I know it's primarily a kids comic.

Funnily enough i use to read the Beano, Dandy and Buster (I don't think they make it anymore) growing up. But when Bea was born the whole comic seemed to change. I just didn't find it enjoyable anymore and stopped buying it. Dandy went to shit when Cuddles ad Dimples made the front cover rather than Desperate Dan. I've still got some old annuals though.

I grew up reading the Beano, the Dandy, Beezer, Topper and Whizzer & Chips. Occasionally caught the odd Buster and Oink! as well.

Of course, I wouldn't read it now - but it is good to sneak the odd look and see what they're putting out for kids these days.

I've still got a big old pile of 1970s dandys , beanos etc from my youth in a cupboard , was tempted to sell them a year or so back but sadly they go for next to nothing on ebay so I'll just give them away maybe some day .

Got that new Joker GN , very good , the artwork is sick , the way theyve inflated his lips and mouth , it works well though and is sorta a homage to the Joker from the 2008 movie in that his smile is now almost a big fucking scar on his face .

Just downloaded the entire Civil War storyline, really cant wait to get stuck into this :D

I've been reading those from the library and I really enjoyed them for the most part. Sorry 'Lex, but I found them fun..

Also, I recently read a Spiderman book called "Reign".. anyone else read this?

It's some wierd ass shit.. but starts to become a lot more coherent after the first book. I ended up enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would and was glad I persevered with it.

'Reign' was alright. I probably unfairly compare it to Frank Millers The Dark Kight Returns and Strikes Back but i thought it was really weird. Something about the story makes me flip between 'genius' and 'terrible'. But i liked the art work, i thought that was good.

The only real Civil war graphic novel i have is Cable and Deadpool. And i loved that. Seriously, buy Deadpool and Cable they are funny.

I would highly recommend getting the current secret six comic book by gail simone and artist nicola scott. It's about a group of villians deadshot, catman, scandal, ragdoll and bane escorting lady tarantula to a meeting in gotham she has a card that all the DC rogues want and the main villian Junior who is really creepy and wears a white sheet and uses crutches is also wanting the card and has offered the rogues 20 million for each of the six. It's a brillant read and the art's superb aswell i also highly recommend getting villians united which was the first meeting of the six as they take on the secret society fantastic stuff.:)
