Roughly translated from a Dutch site -

Barney collapsed after marking De Zwaan vs Lerchbacher. Two ambulances are on site and nobody knows that's going on.

Hope he’s okay. I know he’s had problems with diabetes which was one of the reasons he wanted to retire as it was taking its toll.

He's never liked marking!

Nah in all seriousness he is out of the venue and being monitored so fingers crossed it is his diabetes and not something more serious. It can get really hot marking under the lights (spotlights shining on the board) and also if his diabetes hasn't been strictly managed it could prove a problem for sure. Fingers crossed he'll be ok.

The collapsing when marking happened to a young guy in our darts league. We played a best of 7 tournament and he lost and then marked straight away. He was marking but all of sudden just stared forward and then collapsed. Proper scary and the paramedics had to come out. Thankfully he was ok although did get taken to hospital but released the next day.

If it was a match between Pipe and Durrant, think I’d go full Gillian McKeith to get out of that one.

Glad he’s doing alright. News started coming in that players were starting to warm up for their matches which was a good sign as if there was worse news, the day would’ve been cancelled. Probably was a mixture of things that built up for him today

With all the wishing him the best in mind, the dart forum has been hilarious the past 45 minutes with comments about him and the situation. One highlight being -
“apparently the ambulance wudda been there sooner but they asked chizzy to ring for one and it took him a while to google the number”

A gorgeous photo haha. Just glad you’re one of the better ones on there and not HalloweenJack.

My username is a reference to a niche Norm MacDonald joke. I don’t think the Randall’s of that world know who he is.

Same. I pop on there occasionally when there’s nothing on but mostly post during the tournaments. Haven’t really watched the super series this time round cos of Cheltenham, so only been keeping an eye on dartconnect and every now and then on TDF. So anyone being accused of multiples and DBG drama that’s happened previously goes right over my head when it all comes up. I just want to do live commentary, slag off Michael Smith and stick up for Joe Cullen.

So news just coming in that Australian dart player Kyle Anderson has died aged 33. Absolutely terrible news. He hasn’t been on the pro tour for a while due to covid and him taking a break before that anyway. But after all the time away from Australia and the sacrifices he made to always be here to earn money for his family over the years, I’m sure it was a blessing that he could be there the past year and a bit.

A really great player on his day. Hit a couple of 9 darters on tv and his biggest win being the Auckland Masters where he beat Gary Anderson and James Wade along the way. Had such a unique throw that became one of my favourite throws to watch and try to replicate.

Such a shame. I was really looking forward to seeing him come back once he was able to and felt confident enough to play again.

Draw for the lesser world championship has been made. Forum favourite Steve Beaton has Fallon Sherrock. She’s getting dicked either way.

Sky were desperate for her to say he’s shit or something along those lines. The bastards. Sexy Steve is a world champion and Fallon has only won two matches at a worlds. Although I can see her win as he’s having a big decline and she’s been playing well. She won’t get past Huybrechts though.

This will be a nice stop gap until the world seniors championships in February and a tv return for Ted Hankey.
