Paid Members Halitosis Romantic Posted January 30, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted January 30, 2012 Â Proper pretentious New York art punk no wave swill from 1980, and definitely wonderful.
Paid Members Dead Mike Posted January 30, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted January 30, 2012 (edited) Â I think I might've massively overlooked these guys assuming they were teen-baiting, T4 on the Beach fodder. Regardless of who to/how they're being pushed to this track is excellent. It's very reminiscent of some early 90's hiphop, tracks from people like 3rd Bass, Del Tha Funkee Homosapien...that sense of humour but still just basically rapping over beats & hooks. Sounds like they wanted to use the hook from 'Faith' but had to tweak it slightly? Edited January 30, 2012 by Dead Mike
Paid Members Halitosis Romantic Posted February 2, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted February 2, 2012 Â Gary Wilson. Nuff said. Basically, you can insert anything from You Think You Really Know Me into this slot, and about 50% of the stuff he's done since. This just happens to be my favorite today. Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted February 2, 2012 Moderators Share Posted February 2, 2012 Â I think I might've massively overlooked these guys assuming they were teen-baiting, T4 on the Beach fodder. Sounds like they wanted to use the hook from 'Faith' but had to tweak it slightly? Â Â I dismissed them for the exact same reason, or rather just assumed they wouldn't be my kinda thing because they weren't aimed at me.. I've just checked out this track and wasn't really feeling it, but they're definitely a lot more talented than I figured they would be. So I clicked another track and really enjoyed this - Â
Paid Members Halitosis Romantic Posted February 2, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted February 2, 2012 Â Genuinely odd - I've never been sure if it was 100% an attempt to stay afloat in the face of an earthquake in music in 1977, or if they were genuinely energized by punk rock, but Midge Ure's canny pop group Slik tried to rebounded from his car accident, and subsequent total loss of relevance, with this awesomeness. The sleeve is gawjuss!
Paid Members Halitosis Romantic Posted February 9, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted February 9, 2012 Â *The person uploading this doesn't seem to have quite grasped acoustic, but the vocals are mixed WAY to the front, as they should be, for the only person whose voice makes me want to tear up just from listening to her. Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted February 9, 2012 Moderators Share Posted February 9, 2012 Â this song is a classic - I had never seen the video before, it's pretty cool. Even if you don't like rap music, it features a midget leaping through the air and punching a normal sized guy in the face, so it's worth it for that. patiirc
Â Dug out Meltdown today, hadnt heard it for a bit. This is a live version as seeing as the rest of the youtube versions sound like they were passed through a tin can before uploading
Paid Members Halitosis Romantic Posted February 9, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted February 9, 2012 Tell you what - . It's the only way I listen to music. Enjoy bonus picture of me with a cat on my head, in an awesome shirt (RIP, cat and shirt).
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted February 9, 2012 Moderators Share Posted February 9, 2012 That picture made me think of the dude in the documentary Trekkies, who forces the overweight cat called "Bones" to sit on his shoulder and says that he 'likes it'. Â That cat is also dead, the documentary was dedicated to him.
Paid Members Halitosis Romantic Posted February 9, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted February 9, 2012 I remember reading a blinding review of Trekkies in Steven Puchalski's "Slimetime" - he seems to feel sorry for Tasha Yar, having to go back to that world having been so marginalized on the show. Paid Members Halitosis Romantic Posted February 9, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted February 9, 2012 That cat in the pic (and video) was actually one of a bunch of nameless cats at a farm in Newark (Notts) who was dying of feline AIDS - I volunteered to hang out with them a bit, make them a bit more cheerful. Fucking heartbreaking.
