We're heading out to Atlanta in a few weeks for the 49ers @ the Falcons and have got Georgia Tech tickets for the day before. Lower section, on the 35yrd line & they were $80 face value. Charging nearly 4x that over here is straight up robbery. Quote
MVP RULZ Posted September 16 Posted September 16 Ive been to all the London games since they started in 2007 so I did look at going but the pricing just put me off The 1st of the 3 London games is only 2 weeks after this with the other 2 the following weekends so placing this game so close to the London games also probably negatively impacted the sales with the majority who maybe would have taken a punt (pun intended) on going not willing to add an extra London trip so close to the games. College football is still very much a niche variety of a sport where the main version is still fairly niche in the eyes of the wider sports public of this country. Even the NFL tickets have been slower selling with the prices now just too high for people to justify so this had no chance at similar range pricing If priced right and played at least a couple weeks earlier this could have been a bit of a success but sadly it's probably going to be labeled a bit of a failure At least moving the fans down should make it look better if the lower bowl is at least filled and those fans who purchased the cheap tickets get a nice upgrade (unless as mentioned already your 50 yard tickets are now lower end zone tickets) Quote

To avoid the risk of the double-post, going early with my Disney+ game of the week (that's not on in the middle of the night) recommendation of #16 SMU @ #23 Louisville (8:30pm). More than just being a ranked-on-ranked match-up, it should be a really fun quarterback duel (the current #1 vs current #4 nationally in yards per attempt) and a game that could be an early eliminator in the race for the ACC championship. (Yes that's SMU from the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex among the favourites to win the Atlantic Coast Conference - a conference that now includes 2 teams from California. I know! The crowd looked awesome these last couple of games, just hope there's enough interest it doesn't kill the atmosphere. It's the official 'homecoming' game though so that should spike interest. I went to Berkeley to see the Cal Bears a couple of years ago ahead of the 49ers/Cowboys & despite the crowd being sparse the pre-game vibe around the bars & campus was amazing. Quote

They got permission to use a load of the old NFL Europe names so you had the Frankfurt Galaxy and Rhein Fire etc playing once more for a few years. I never got a new Amsterdam Admirals or *London Monarchs before it all fell apart The ELF splintered into the European Football Alliance, which should have a London team in 2027 (the London Guard playing at Brisbane Road), and the American Football League Europe, which already has the London Warriors in it. *Lineage wise AFLE has the Berlin Thunder who replaced the London Monarchs in NFLE. Great decision to host the EFA Championship Game at the Tivoli Stadium, home of the Raiders Tirol, as that thing looks gorgeous with the mountains in the background. Quote

Quite a bit came out from the ELF which normally was along the lines of imports getting a few grand a month (during the season only) and maybe room and board. From my understanding everyone else was on a sliding scale to the point that a majority of the squads would have been essentially amateurs who were getting their basic kit and travel expenses covered.
