Good thread idea, I follow the Buffalo Bills and was pleased to read the other day they will be trading for DJ Moore.

As a Bears fan I am sorry to see him go but we have upgraded our receiving corps a lot since we got him in the trade from Carolina, fir a while he was our recieving corp to be honest. He's definitely a good pick up for the Bills.

So on the basis I press-ganged Lion into changing the thread title so I could try to instigate college football chat, I was going to launch into a post about the great bridge event that is the NFL Draft.

That can wait until we actually get into draft week though as I've just learned there's a new European Arena Football league launching this very week, with teams in Nottingham & Glasgow.

Obviously the organisers are making sure they develop a sustainable, loyal fanbase for the teams/product (bring the whole family, that kinda thing) by flogging tickets for a niche of a niche sport (with rosters filled with, respectfully, enthusiastic amateurs) for a mere FORTY-FIVE NOTES A GAME. Madness.

I saw that Statto. It appears that it has been set up by either the FIFA ticketing unit or someone who once promoted British Wrestling. 45 quid to watch arena football is madness, and to try and set it up so quickly as well doesn't seem a great idea.

The Arena League in America has gone bust and been reborn almost as many times as I've had hot dinners (almost).  They even held an arena bowl in a mall as ain't no one buying tickets for it.  (It's giving WCW).  Best of luck to them and all that.

Right then, the NFL Draft is this week.

Not a great year to be needing a... well, just about anything TBH. Far from a vintage class, with some analysts saying that if you add 10 to just about projected draft position (outside #1) you'd be about right for that player's projection in any other draft year. For some reason (hint - $$$$$$), a lot of players who likely would have come out early in previous years are opting for another year in school, so there's little to bolster what wouldn't have been a wonderful graduating class anyway.

Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza is nailed on to go 1st overall, then after that it's a matter of which pass rusher you like best for 2/3 - Arvell Reese (Ohio State) or David Bailey (Texas Tech). Notre Dame's Jeremiyah Love is then quite likely to become the highest RB pick since Saquon Barkley in 2018 - with the interesting note that if another RB goes in the first round, it'll almost certainly be another Notre Dame alum, Jadarian Price.

So NFL heads - what are you hoping for out of this sorry shower of a draft class?

We (the Jets) will take Bailey 2nd and hopefully Makai Lemon later in round 1 at WR.

Its very telling how we have so many draft picks and everyone decides to not risk being picked this year...

Fernando Mendoza passes The Parcells Rule and has to be a great prospect.

As for the Bears. Someone to play the other edge opposite Montez Sweat, a safety and a O--Line upgrade are needed but our first pick is 25 so who knows how the board will look by then.
