RedTwoster Posted February 9 Posted February 9 This might die on its arse, but here’s the concept. We talk all the time about discontinued foods we wish they’d bring back - in this (obviously) hypothetical scenario you’re able to do just that. However, the twist is for everything you do bring back, you have to permanently remove two other, similar foods that you like from sale. So it better be worth it. So if you’re bringing back a specific kind of crisp, you’re ditching two other varieties that you genuinely enjoy. The verification process here will admittedly be lax, so no cheating and ditching foods you hate! Here are mine, as an example: BRING BACK: Irn Bru bars GET RID OF: Mega Double Lollies and Double Dips I think the above are similar enough to count. I enjoy the powdery taste of Mega Double Lollies, and the swizzle sticks in double dips are exceptional - but I’d willingly ditch both to bring back the god tier chew that is the Itn Bru bar. Plenty of companies have tried to bring a version of it back, but none have quite managed it. I want the original. BRING BACK: Nestle Double Cream chocolate GET RID OF: Galaxy chocolate bars, Dairy Milk Nestle’s attempt to rival the Dairy Milk should have succeeded, so I’m ditching the inferior competitors to make sure that it does. I love Dairy Milk, and while I considered ditching the Mars bars instead, for the greater good (ie. these things not being discontinued again) I’d get rid of them in favour of this. So, over to you - what would you sacrifice and what would you bring back? Quote
Paid Members Lorne Malvo Posted February 9 Paid Members Posted February 9 This may be pure nostalgia masking what was actually a horrible drink, but I absolutely loved Virgin Cola - I used to drink 4 of the big '25% extra volume' cans every day. No wonder my teeth are fucked. I'd bring them back and put Pepsi and Coca-Cola out to pasture. Quote
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted February 9 Moderators Posted February 9 Similarly, I'd happily bring back Virgin Lips lemon & lime and get rid of Sprite and 7Up. That stuff tasted like fizzy liquid green fruit gums. Quote
westlondonmist Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Bring Back: Fruit Club, these were awesome and by far the best Club. I'm guessing the fruit cost too much money as they need to keep them at £1.50 a pack. But I fucking miss these. Get rid: Mint Clubs, absolute shite. Who eats these? I'll tell you who! Milk Chocolate round thing, I mean what's the fucking point? Why not just have it in a bar? It's not fucking Orange. Quote
Paid Members Carbomb Posted February 9 Paid Members Posted February 9 You and I are diametric opposites, @westlondonmist - I really don't like fruit with chocolate (unless it's got booze or spices like cinnamon & nutmeg in it to soften the sour/tangy edge). Mint chocolate, I like less than I used to, but still like it. (I am not a punk rocker, although a bit of Screeching Weazel is good.) A mint Aero is still decent. Bring back: (Yes, even the orange ones, to keep westlondonmist happy.) Get rid: Have reviewed these in the crisps thread (as has RedTwoster), and even though they're imported and not likely to cross your path in general, they should be destroyed with fire. Also, more a type of thing, but: I love chocolate and pistachios, but this is getting to take the piss now. (The brand above is appropriate, as it makes me want to say "Rahhhh".) Mainly because the UAE are a bunch of bastards and shouldn't be allowed to culture-wash their bastard government. Quote
Harry Wiseau Posted February 9 Posted February 9 But you're supposed to be getting rid of two things that you actively like, it's easy to just pick two things you don't like to sack off, it quite explicitly says two items that you like to ditch. Quote

Sorry I misunderstood. Okay Biscoff, quite nice on a cheese cake etc but I really think it's overrated and the way some people pander to it I find quite annoying. Orange Club, currently my favourite club, but I'd sacrafice it get my Fruit Club back. Quote

To be honest I’d quite happily get rid of this without getting something nice in return. The nice thing, I suppose, would be my local bakery not using it in absolutely everything they make at the moment. Quote

Ah, I misread. Will have a think. Quote
Paid Members Gus Mears Posted February 9 Paid Members Posted February 9 Those fruit Club biscuits were ace. After my granddad's heart exploded the first time and my gran's reaction was to force him to eat nothing but lettuce, he used to keep a pack of those in the basement along with the Welsh cakes. Quote
Paid Members I Bent My Wookie Posted February 9 Paid Members Posted February 9 As someone that has an Irn Bru tattoo I came into this wondering how soon someone would post the bars (that I talked about at work today). Post one. Love this place. Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted February 9 Members Posted February 9 Bring back Brannigans Roast Beef and Mustard, and in exchange I'll sacrifice Beef Hula Hoops and Beef Monster Munch to the crisp gods. Quote
