THE GOOD
Best Women's Wrestler

It’s a clear win for Timeless Toni Storm as far as I’m concerned. She’s been cooled off massively by the team with Mina, but for the majority of the year she was the highlight of every show she appeared on.

Honourable second to Willow Nightingale. Mercedes Mone has had a great year too. Their match on the last Dynamite of the year was ace.

Stephanie Vaquer for best in WWE. But come on, it’s Toni.

Best Men's Wrestler

It’s got to be Hangman Adam Page. He made me believe again ... again,

Also got to say Bandido. I think maybe also Will Ospreay, who was only around the first 8 months of the year but was great in them.

Best Tag Team

I think The Young Bucks have had a really great year, and I say this as someone who’s never been a huge fan. They’ve been really entertaining.

Brodido as well, of course,

Best Champion

Mercedes Mone is in with a shout, she’s champion of so many things after all.

Other than that, my usual pick - Toni Storm. (I’d say Hangman but, while the win was an all-timer, the reign sadly was not.)

For WWE, Dirty Dom seems like he’s been good for the Intercontinental Title, from what I’ve seen.

Best British Wrestler

Will Ospreay as mentioned above. Zack Sabre Jr.

Best Non-wrestler

Various mentions for the AEW backstage crew, Renee Paquette, Lexy Nair and RJ City.

Best Event

AEW Revolution is probably my shout, that’s the show which had the Hollywood Ending followed by Omega-Takeshita followed by Ospreay-Fletcher in the cage.

All In Texas as well, for the big show feel.

Best Wrestling Show

Best Feud or Angle

Toni Storm vs Mariah May, without a doubt.

It’s still ongoing, but I’ve had a great time watching Okada vs Takeshita up to this point.

Funniest Moment

Best Heel

A name I never thought I’d put forward here - Ricochet. He’s been a brilliant little shite.

Dirty Dominik Mysterio Best in WWE.

Best Babyface

Clearly it’s Hangman Page.

Best Digital Content (previously Best Podcast)

I’m going to say Squared Circle Gazette first. This year I had to make some spending cutbacks and sadly a tenner a month for Wrestle Me was no longer an option. I love Wrestle Me and would nominate them for the newsletter alone, so they’re my choice too, but SCG has been my main wrestling podcast this year and I’ve enjoyed what they’ve put out. This week’s 5 1/2 hour epic will see me through making Christmas dinner.

Moment of the Year

Mistico’s entrance at Grand Slam Mexico was just magic. I’ll never tire of watching it.

Hangman’s original music playing at All In Texas gave me goosebumps and may have made me even more emotional than him winning did.

Match of the Year

The Hollywood Ending by miles and miles and miles. Brilliant beautiful brutal wrestling perfection.

I’ll also throw in mentions for Ospreay-Hangman in the Owen Cup final, Hangman-Moxley at All In, Okada vs Takeshita vs Mascara Dorada and Women’s Blood & Guts.

But seriously, it can’t be anything other than Toni, Mariah, the Hollywood Ending.

Promo of the Year

Hangman at Grand Slam Mexico.

Hangman - “champion of the FUCKING world”

Breakout Star

Kyle Fletcher feels like he had a real breakout year.

I’ll give a nod to Harley Cameron as well.

THE BAD
Biggest Letdown

John Cena’s heel turn - it can’t be anything else this year, can it?

Worst Wrestler

Seth Rollins. He’s not bad at wrestling but there’s nobody I’ve skipped or fast-forwarded more this year.

Worst Champion

The Opps have made the AEW trios titles the most worthless they’ve ever been - and that’s some achievement.

Jey Uso won a world title at WrestleMania didn’t he? That seems like a yeet too far.

Worst Non-wrestler

Travis Scott could count here, couldn’t he?

Worst Match

Worst Event

Worst TV Show

When WWE came to Netflix I was excited to give SmackDown a try based on the raves on here. I’d given up completely by February. I don’t know how anyone could sit through that on a weekly basis.

WWE Unreal.

THE GOOD
Best Women's Wrestler

Mercedes Mone. Truly fantastic at what she does. Utterly dislikable while doing it.

Best Men's Wrestler

Jon Moxley.

Just kidding, Dev, don't shoot me. It's Hangman.

Best Tag Team

I barely care on the whole but, it's Brodido.

Best British Wrestler

Will Ospreay, by miles, but that doesn't quite feel in the spirit of this.

Best Non-wrestler

Rene Paquette. Again, by miles and miles. She's the best.

Best Event

All In: Texas.

Dynamite in Glasgow.

Best Wrestling Show

AEW Dynamite.

AEW Collision.

Best Feud or Angle

Hangman's redemption (aka Hangman vs. Moxley / Hangman vs. Deathriders)

Funniest Moment

Stokely can't get no hoes.

Triple H pretends he didn't fire R-Truth.

Best Heel

Jon Moxley. Rescued a dying angle to become the antagonist Hangman needed.

Best Babyface

Hangman, again. Shout out to Willow, she's amazing.

Best Digital Content (previously Best Podcast)

The WWE Vault, if it counts.

Moment of the Year

Hangman wins at All In: Texas.

Match of the Year

Hollywood Ending.

Promo of the Year

Hangman Page is the champion of the fucking world. (Dynamite July 17th)

Breakout Star

Kevin Knight

THE BAD
Biggest Letdown

CM Punk sucks a bloody money covered dick. Unsurprising but, disappointing.

Worst Wrestler

Roddy Strong. My least favourite on AEW.

Worst Non-wrestler

Triple H. The smartest man in the room. Assuming he's the only man in the room.

Don Callis. Had enough of him now.

Worst Match

Mox vs. Cope (Revolution). Probably not actually the worst but I don't watch most stuff that looks bad and remember even less.

Worst Event

Can't think of one. Been some dreadful episodes of AEW TV but they've not stuck in my head.

I’m amazed that Zelina Vega is getting off so lightly in the Worst Champion nominations! Maybe it’s because so few people are watching WWE, but I can’t remember the last time a wrestler with so little crowd reaction has won a singles title in any major company, much less was booked to defeat their most entertaining character.
