Your “Fan Favourite” matches back in the day?

Sid Justice v British Bulldog never happened in the WWF, did it? I know they wrestled in multiple tags etc a year later in WCW but I feel like a little singles feud in 1992 could have been some fun.

Not in that time period when Sid was still ‘Justice’ no. But they did wrestle singles at SummerSlam 96 when Sid was ‘Sycho’.

Yeah I was thinking more of that Justice era, where Bulldog is arguably at his prime. As a kid I'd have loved to see the impossible stalling suplex on the big man.

The ones he hit on Vader in WCW in 93 were really impressive looking. 

That’s not even the best one either, pretty sure there was another one with more of a delay. And he did another one on the ramp at the Clash later. While I’m posting prime Bulldog feats of strength though, my back gave out just watching this…

Ricky Steamboat vs Bret Hart - from '86 - '88. I know it would've been a stretch as Bret was primarily in tags, but it could've happened early '88 when Steamboat was on his way out of the WWF and they had just started to think about Bret as a singles competitor. Also, again it would've been hard due to both being faces, but '91 when Steamboat had his 'The Dragon' return and Bret was a full blown singles guy (hey, they had faces Hart vs Virgil on TV so why not this?)

Hogan vs Barry Windham - late 1989 when Windham was the Widowmaker. I know he left suddenly due to family issues IIRC, but these two could've been on an episode of SNME. 

Another vote for Hart vs Anderson. The Bulldogs and the Hart Foundation had singles matches as well as tags, would've been fun to do it with the Harts and the Brainbusters (even Neidhart!)

That stupid retirement from Savage in '91 stopped us from having a Savage vs Mr Perfect match late Spring '91 before Perfect's back messed up - similarly to a Perfect vs Steamboat in '91. 

Apparently there were matches from late '87 and a time limit draw from the untelevised KOTR '91 from Dibiase vs Steamboat. Hoping the '91 was filmed even it was just one camera, and is in the WWE vault. 

And this one is just because I'm a masochist - Ultimate Warrior vs The Barbarian from '91.

Am I right in thinking we never got a Jake Roberts vs Ultimate Warrior 1 on 1? Probably would've been shite, but it may have been a lot of fun with evil Jake.

That’s a great shout. Did we really never get Savage vs Perfect in the WWF?  I know they wrestled in WCW later but that was just throwaway Nitro stuff and Hennig was past his prime by 97.

Another one I kind of wish we got is Bret Hart vs Lex Luger in 94. I know they wrestled when Lex was the ‘Narcissist’, it was on one of Bret’s Best Ofs from Coliseum Video and I remember really liking it. But I’m talking an all babyface clash when Lex was in the Stars and Stripes. Seemed like that was an inevitable match somewhere down the road with the way Rumble 94 ended but it just never happened. Looking back, I’d have much preferred Bret vs Lex headlining WrestleMania X than a re-run of Bret vs Yoko from the year before.

That would've been great. I always thought a better way of playing out the Luger situation would've had him come in as the All-American, get rid of the Narcissist bollocks which really didn't do anything for Luger or anyone else, and have him do all the Lex Express stuff etc., but come Wrestlemania have him beat Yokozuna for the world title and then face Hart in the second match. It would've meant that there would've been a serious doubt if Hart could beat him, after a). his Owen match being so knackering and b). would they make a title switch so suddenly. Hart beats Luger, then Luger turns heel. I don't think a sudden title change would harm Luger, especially not up against the calibre of Hart, and it would give Hart another rival in the Summer of '94.

The one that jumps out to me is Hogan v Austin in 2002. All we got was a brief 50 seconds in a tag match on RAW. Bruce Pritchard claims they were torn between Rock or Austin and went with the logic they could have the Austin payday next year with a slow build but i feel that's a bit of revisionist history .

Ric Flair v British Bulldog They had various interactions in rumbles and tags and there is a poor home recording from a house show but that's it really, really feels like this two could have had a great PPV match. likewise, a tag team of Hogan and Bulldog for a one off PPV match could have been great fun.

Trish Stratus v Sasha Banks that looked like it could be fire from their brief rumble spot, likewise Trish v Alexa Bliss around the same time frame could have been fun. Mad thing is Trish is still in good enough shape to have several modern 'dream matches' but i doubt we will.

I don't think we ever got Ultimate Warrior Vs The Warlord, which is an incredible shame.

It's a match-up that happened many times, and it was before my day, but I still wish the scheduled (or at least advertised) Mark Rocco-Sammy Lee match had happened at the 1981 Wembley Arena show. That match happening on the same show as Daddy-Haystacks would have been Savage-Steamboat/Hogan-Andre on a whole new level.
