Failing that I wanted to see Warrior vs Yokozuna when they were around at a brief/similar time

Incredibly brief. You’d have needed for your letter to reach Ian Mooney’s desk some time between two sets of tapings on the weekends of October 13th and 27th 1992, which were the only shows Yokozuna worked before Jim got himself and Smithers the sack. Excluding Yoko’s tryouts as Kokina, obviously.

Of course, there’s 96 too, but ‘Zuna was hardly the intimidating factor at 641lbs of blubber that did jobs for anyone, and I think it was the 505lb wrecking ball you’d wanted to see Woyah try and withstand.

They probably wrestled when roles were reversed, but I would've enjoyed a tag title match between Demolition and the Fabulous Rougeau Brothers.

Also, just for a promo, it would've been funny to see the Fabulous Moolah and Jacques and Raymond do an insincere flattery session back and forth ("No, YOU are fabulous!").

I realised the other day that Dusty didn't really have a whole lot to do with anyone managed by Fuji, Jimmy or the Weasel. Dusty against Perfect would've been interesting.

If this counts, Demolition vs. LOD, done as how everyone would have envisioned rather than how it actually happened: at the culmination of a huge build-up of both teams on unstoppable runs, as a clash of forces.

Ax and Smash did indeed have a go round with Jacques & Raymond in 87 when they were beating them, the Killer Bees and the Billy Jack Haynes/Ken Pateras of the world, but 1989 when they had their solid babyface year, they fought the Powers Of Pain all winter/early spring, the Twin Towers late spring/early summer, Arn & Tully early summer until Tully failed his drug test then a reprise with Warload & Barbar until 1990 rolled around, aside from the televised switch and very occasional house show match with Andre & Haku. But yes, face Demos vs Les Fabuleux would have been, err, fab.

This is something the WWE would book today and think it's amazing.

The reality is that you could have someone like Vince or Gorilla lead into it, then it transitions to Jimmy and all three Fabs against a generic background doing the spiel, which might or might not conclude with them all giggling like ninnies, with the announcer then blowing it off, and it would all be done in one minute and moved on from. And you'd remember it all this time later.

At the very least in terms of what made it to TV or Coliseum he faced Honky at SummerSlam 89 and Valentine on Challenge, which was so scintillating they passed it off as an actual fan favourite match on both the Fan Favourites (fittingly) and Hottest Matches tapes.

Actually now you mention that I’m surprised they never did a big Hogan/Dusty tag team match at some point. The big Stars and Stripes love-in thing. They never did this on TV did they? Maybe house shows but I don’t remember Hogan and Dusty ever really interacting on a televised show while Big Dust was there. Something like Hulk and Dusty vs Savage and DiBiase would’ve been fun in 1989/90.

Checking Cagematch, the 1990 Royal Rumble was the only match ever that they were both in, in the US. Between 80 & 81, they worked together in New Japan, a couple of 6-Man matches as partners and then opponents in singles and tags. Dusty won both their singles matches, one by DQ and one by count out.

Cheers for that Rick. I vaguely remember seeing a clip of a tag match in Japan where they crossed paths. Seems such an obvious pairing for a team in the WWF at the time they were both there though, given the way they were portrayed on TV back then plus having some common enemies. You’d think they’d at least headlined as a tag on Saturday Night’s Main Event or something.

Weird coincidence…
