Someone at CHIKARA told me around that time that Demolition would charge by the bump; the more you wanted them to do, the more you paid them.

That's a pretty shrewd model. I bet Sid would cost an absolute shit-ton if he even entertained that system.

Some of the WCW posts remind me, I have a running joke on Twitter that various weird matches for clashing styles or not being aware they were in each others’ orbit are “Thunder 98” matches so I had a quick scan of the results and some of these stand out for me :

Randy Savage vs Chris Adams

Ray Taylor & The Steiners vs Black Cat, Gedo & Michiyoshi Ohara

Yuji Nagata vs La Parka

Perry Saturn vs Magnum Tokyo

British Bulldog & Anvil vs Masahiro Chono & Yoshihiro Tenzan

Stevie Ray vs Doc Dean

Public Enemy vs Magnum Tokyo & CIMA

Ernest Miller vs Nick Dinsmore

And some from Joey Janela's Spring Break over the years:

  • LAX vs. The Rock N Roll Express
  • LA Park vs. Masato Tanaka

I was at this show.  God damn, it was good.

One of the best shows I've ever been to.

Accidental double post, so let's go with Grizzled Young Veterans vs. Heavy Machinery on a WWE show, for the Progress Tag Titles.   Heavy Machinery actually won the match aswell, by DQ.

A conversation in the AEW thread reminded me of this match, Orlando Jordan vs Josh Mathews in the main event of Smackdown. And people shit all over 2004 WWE!

Yes he was!!! Go to 5:41 here where he both scares and corpses the poor young lady trying to interview him.

I just stopped by to say I've watched this video so many times and it creases me every single time. From Donna's shitty letters she reads and for Tony's over the top promo. And super duper fucking Mario and his shitty Italian accent is tremendous ??. When Atlas shouts "Who" when she says Bill she literally jumps out of her skin.

A few odd offerings from the earlier years of TNA. Be warned before hitting play, they’re almost all horrendous.

Don Callis vs Erik Watts

Chris Harris vs James Storm (blindfold steel cage match)

Jeff Jarrett vs Mickie James/Alexis Laree and Julio Dinero

CM Punk vs Shane Douglas (Clockwork Orange House of Fun match)

I often see videos pop up of "People you didn't know where in TNA" and it's almost always people you did know where in TNA but honestly, Don Callis with hair - I have no memory of whatsoever. Erik Watts, sadly, I do.

Yeah, if they were an active wrestler of any note and not contracted to WWE, they’re more likely to have made an appearance there than not. And there’s a very good chance they appeared in at least one really weird match.

Starrcade 95 with its WCW Vs New (I bet it was actually All) Japan thing had some pretty interesting matches but that main event of Savage (who'd already wrestled) reffing DDP Vs Hogan Vs Flair in a triple threat with tag rules?

I also remember a video called "barmy wrestling" that one of my mates had, and there's a good hour (at least it feels like an hour) which is just some Japanese chaps having a match inside a house that looks like it's about to be demolished. They're not having some brawl, they're having a match with submissions holds etc.

Samoa Joe, Delirious, Jack Evans and Ebessan in a four way match just after Joe has won the Pure Title and in the promo before the match he says if anybody pins him they can have the belt.

I think you've muddled a few different shows/matches there.  Hogan wasn't on Starrcade 95 and Savage didn't ref anything - he lost to Flair in the main event.  The 3 way with the tag rules was on the same show but was Flair/Sting/Luger (with Flair winning and getting the title shot against Savage).  The match with Savage reffing was years later at Spring Stampede 99 (Hogan/Flair/Sting/DDP).

Yeah. It all becomes a bit of a blur.

It was actually New Japan, there was a strong relationship there because Bischoff and Sonny Onoo were mates.

That Luger (against Chono), Savage (against Tenzan) and Sting (vs Sasaki) all had to wrestle prior to Sting vs Luger vs Flair with winner going on to challenge Savage for the title was, for a change, fair to Flair.

Eddie Guerrero vs Shinjiro Otani off that show is tremendous.

But in keeping with the theme of the thread, Johnny B Badd vs Masa Saito off the same show? Yeah that’s an odd one.
